Unfortunately in those days batteries didn't last long, I used to fall asleep with it on and wake; heart broken to find the batteries dead in the morning. Battery Life
Amongst the Flashlights Battery Life varies from 10 hours to a hundred hours.
Multi AAA battery torches have the longest life. Single AAA lights the shorter life and those with Watch type batteries used in the keyring torches even shorter. If the flashlight is to be used for camping or trekking battery life is very important. I prefer the torches which take AAA batteries as you get these anywhere and even if necessary rob other equipment. -
Brightness
Outdoor use requires brightness and range and focusing so the bigger more expensive flashlights are required. -
Weight
The smaller flashlights are great for indoors or for lighting up when looking into equipment.

- Though the pocket torches are much more safer, remember to ajust the flame to low or you may get hurt by sudden high flame.
