LED Light Parts

LED's now come in a variety of "packages" - from the traditional two lead LED's to surface mount. To create your own LED light source, you're going to need several parts:

power (can be batteries, a transformer or - for the adventurous - a wall outlet)

LEDs (no surprise here)

Resistors (to keep the voltage at the proper level)

Capacitors (to help keep the current at the proper level)

Diodes (to keep the voltage "going the right way")

I'm not going into actual plans here, but I will point to some stellar ones below...

One of the best links to learn and to reference it superpositioned I cut my teeth on this one and still find it thorough and enlightening (pardon the pun).
If you're making an LED grow light, there's always LED Growlight. Great for one or two plants in those corners that never get any light, or as a basis for creating more monstrous devices.
