LED Lighting

The humble LED (light Emitting Diode) has been around for decades, however, until recently has had little application in domestic and commercial room lighting.

With the advent of new high intensity LED technology this has now changed and we are on the verge of a LED lighting revolution. I have recently replaced some 50 Watt Halogen lamps in my home with a new 8 Watt Ignite LED (see picture) and I am amazed at the result. Not only do these lights look good they reduce electricity usage by over 80%.

This lens is dedicated to all lights LED!

LED Tube Lights - A Commercial Decision

Save 50% or more on your office lighting costs.

Got fluorescent tubes in your workplace? If you do it is likely that you have many. The 4 foot fluorescent tube is one of the most common forms of office lighting in use today. But with new advances in LED lighting technology their days may be numbered...

The benefits of replacing your old fashioned fluorescent tubes with modern LED Tube Lights in your existing light fittings are many and varied. As a start they can save you 50% or more of the electricity used by your current tubes. A 4 foot LED tube light can use as little as 15 watts and provide similar or better lighting than a standard 32 watt fluorescent tube. Additionally the LED Tube Light does not require a ballast or starter (devices required to make fluorescent tubes work). Removing these from the light fitting will add to the savings made.

Save Again...

Modern LED Tube Lights can have expected life times of up to 100,000 hours. If you run your lights 10 hours a day, 5 days a week then the LED Tube light could last you 38 years! Even if run 24/7 the may last up to 11 years. Imagine the money you could save if you had no maintenance expenses on your lighting systems for 10 years or more.

Other Benefits include:

- Very little UV emission
- No hazardous chemicals
- Direction of emission can be accurately controlled to minimize wasted energy
- Output is more constant over lifetime
- Spectrum provides better visibility for same energy consumption
- Light output does not degrade at low temperatures

The acquisition cost of LED Tube lights may seem to be high, however, the longer life means significant long-term savings when replacement cost is factored in. Typical payback period is now 2-3 years, falling rapidly as energy prices increase and LED costs decrease.

With the push for carbon reduction strategies LED Lighting for your workplace is certainly something that should be considered.
