Legal Marketing and the Internet
Legal marketing has changed drastically in the last 10 years. Legal marketing can no longer be a yellow page ad or putting up a website. In today's legal market, attorneys and law firms must have a legal marketing strategy that utilizes all the web's marketing power to create succesful legal marketing campaign.

I often consult with attorneys who have no legal marketing plan in place that they are executing on a daily or weekly basis. From reading books or articles on the web, many attorneys have a basic understanding of what they should be doing to market their law firms but they do not exploit that knowledge.
If you are a lawyer and you want to be succesful with a legal marketing campaign, you MUST MUST MUST have a written legal marketing plan that outlines the strategies you will use, the steps to implement those strategies and a timeline of when the goals will be met.
Once you have implemented a legal marketing plan, you are not finished. You must also have a legal marketing maintenance plan where you are continually following up and reenforcing your legal marketing plan.
Here is an outline of a simple legal marketing plan.
1. Review exisiting website or create website.
2. Use online research tools to determine what people are searching for in your practice area.
3. Use online tools to analyze top search rank competitors.
4. Update / create website - focus on keywords and practice areas based on research.
5. Start a blog for free.
6. join the top social networks and mini blogs.
7. Set up a Pay Per Click advertising campaign.
8. Submit legal articles to article databases about your practice.
9. Use press release websites to get info abot your firm out there.
