- I am almost legally blind, if there is such a thing! I identify with many of your plights, though I am corrected with glasses. But without my glasses, all the cats would learn to stay way clear of me walking ~ and I would see a beautiful moon with each street light, too! Great lens, thanks for the refreshing look at a serious problem!

- Fun lens! My daughter is totally blind and enjoys playing golf on her Wii. We have not tried playing golf in real life, but we tried putt-putt and she decided it wasn't her thing.

- I'll have to share this with my next door neighbor. He also is a legally blind golfer. Finding a white ball in a white sand trap is impossible for him. He amazes us with how well he shoots despite it all.

- I have RP as well and am legally blind. There are hundreds of amusing things that happen on a regular basis that are sometimes too funny for words. My dog (A 10 lb Pom) also has been drop kicked more than once ;) They do learn to stay out from underfoot. I am a member of the Lions and we sponsor the Blind Golf Group here in MA :)

- I am so glad you husband continues to enjoy life and can laugh at himself. My mother got macular degeneration in her later years and I don't think she ever stopped grieving. She was an artist and it took away her joy and her identity. She fought it for a long time and kept going to different doctors to see if they would give her a different diagnosis.

- Oh, Joan, this was fun! I used to know a college teacher who was blind and actually drove a golf cart on campus, steering by using a special white cane out the side of the cart (and all sorts of warning signs on the cart!) But one person didn't get it, and when the teacher was parked one day, came up and asked, amazed, if the college had its own golf course.
He said, yes, what do you think of my driver? And held up his white cane. The person finally realized he was blind and scooted well out of the cart's way...

- My father-in-law is legally blind also, he lost most of his sight in the Army, but he has such a sense of humor that being anywhere near him guarantees a good time. He has walked into more tree branches than he can count, and stepped on more things than anyone would want, but he still keeps his head up.

- From birth, I've been blind in one eye and couldn't see out of the other. I adapted.
Just loved this lens and Whitey's first hand experiences!! I laffed so hard at the story about showing you the moon (the street light) cause it sounded so familiar. I watched what I thought was an eagle on a tree limb for 15 minutes one day, til hubby came along and gently informed me it was a squirrel nest. :)) Great lens. Five, fave, and lensroll for you and Whitey.

- I know it's redundant, but it's not often you find a story that is both hilarious and inspirational at the same time. My hat's off to the "can do" attitude with a grand sense of humor showcased by the stories from this Tate/Adams union! 5* and faved.

- this was a wonderful read.I can so relate ( in a way)
My 8 year old son is has a hearing loss of 85% in both ears. When he doesn't want to hear us he takes his hearing aides out and we talk and talk and talk then realize that he didn't hear us ( I know he's laughing at us on the inside)
It's amazing and hillarious what he thinks he hears sometimes!

- Legally Blind Golfer! This is not a joke, like it may sound, but instead... it is and inspirational story of the indubitable spirit of a man and his family who refuse to see the glass at any level less than "half full!" Whitey Adams is that man... and we can all take a lesson in how to approach life's challenges by witnessing how he, and his family handle his limitation of vision and stay productive and engaged in life! Whitey married one of my good friends from growing up and high school, Joan Tate. Joan and her sisters Nancy and Betty have been communicating and reaching out to the rest of the world through their, award winning, squidoo lens on the internet. The following link on Whitey will be of great interest and to you golfer friends of mine who I am sending this to. Perhaps it will also be inspirational... as it is to me! J

- I should NOT have been drinking a beverage while reading this lens - when I got to the part about Whitey drop-kicking Pee-wee, well, my beverage exited via my nostrils onto my keyboard. I didn't see that one coming (pardon the pun) and neither did Pee-wee. (I am still laughing, god help me, poor pee-wee, I shouldn't be laughing, but I can't help it!)
Laughing at our troubles sure makes 'em easier to bear. Thanks to you and to Whitey for such an enjoyable visit. I feel like we've just had beer on our french fries together. (Yeah, that one got me going, too.)
Have you ever thought about making a book out of Whitey's stories? I think a lot of people would buy it; I know I would.

- Enjoyed the anecdotes. My mother had perfect vision but that didn't stop her from hopping into the passengers side of a man's car one morning when she mistook it for my father. Not something she lived down for years as my father saw it happen.

- I think Whitey might like this as I had an elderly friend who only had one eye and the other was not much good either. Anyway playing Golf with him he couldn't see the hole when putting so used to putt at his caddie, except one time the caddy not thinking took out the flag and walked about 10 metres left, whereupon my mate promtly putted there. I don't think the caddie made the same mistake again after the roasting he was given.
