On Friday Jun 18, 2010 the legendary Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe took groups of excited small kids dressed in bright and vivid Hogwarts Wizardry School uniform to the Wizard world of famous Harry Potter theme park which officially opened in Orlando, Florida USA. Harry Potter fans turned in thousands and did not hesitate to queue up in long lines amidst snarling traffic. The hagrid Harry Potter was accompanied with wizard's best friend Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and other actors from the blockbuster movie and the hit Harry Potter books series from J. K. Rowling's creative masterpiece.
Harry Potter fans lined up in the queue for more than eight hours with patience to get into the Wizardry World of Harry Potter children's theme park at Universal Orlando on its opening day. The snapshots taken from the aero plane showed thousands of fans lining up in a queue to enter at the mini-park. The queue got so huge that the line to get inside quickly wrapped the exterior of Universal's Islands of Adventure Park.
The crowd was awesome and at the dawn, the flooding traffic resulted in blocking the main highway through Orlando near the entrances to Universal prompting the theme park to open its parking gates half an hour earlier than the scheduled time. Harry Patter fans waited for the signature ride in unending queue for the signature ride "the Forbidden Journey" and at one point it became a 90 minutes waiting period.
The 20 acre Harry Potter Park costs around $250 million and recreates the fascinating Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with other imaginary places dreamed up by J K Rowling in her novels about the legendary hagrid Harry Potter's life. The Wizard world is one of the six unique sections of the Universal Island of adventure theme park, USA.
The Sorcerer's Companion: A Guide to the Magical World of Harry Potter
Each alphabetically organized entry contains a potent blend of fact, fiction and folklore. The "Broomstick" entry, for instance, details the effects of a purported "flying ointment" that witches rub into their brooms to prepare for takeoff. The section on "The Sorcerer's Stone" explains the ancient Egyptian art of alchemy. A note at the end of each section shows readers where to find the reference in the Harry Potter books. Though the spokesman from Universal Orlando Florida did not reveal the awesome attendance of the huge hagrid Harry Potter fan list, the figures confirm to more than 5000. They were waiting to get in even before the children's theme park could open. And in spite of the overwhelming crowd of such magnitude, the Universal Islands staff reported that they will be able to accommodate everyone who wanted to experience The Wizardry World of Harry Potter within the regular hours on the opening day. Admission to Wizardry World was included in the ticket for Islands of Adventure.
Though the children's theme park was admitting guests to the 20-acre Wizardry World area in quantum, it did not appear overcrowded from the inside of the Wizardry world but the queue to enter the Wizardry World gates snaked all the way covering the periphery of Universal's Islands of Adventure park, where the Harry Potter area was located.
The Wizardry World has succeeded to bring forth the popular Harry Potter books and exciting movies to life with rides, shops and carefully designed reproductions of the imaginary village of Hogsmeade, the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Even the steam-belching Hogwarts dream Express train became a reality to the passionate fans.

What Universal Orlando has done with Harry Potter is really, really fantastic," Radcliffe said at the opening ceremony. It is great to have the Harry Potter legacy so well done with the high tech gizmos and latest technology fun parks. And it has even the blessings of J K Rowling.
The park's marquee ride, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey was named as such by JK Rowling revealing the details of the murky ride and how the Potter Park will look like. The ride is brilliantly done and filled with special effects as it takes guests on a flight through Harry's life, scenes and rooms from the blockbuster movie including encounters with Dementors and a dragon, and live projections of characters from the film like Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts. The details are strikingly similar to the remakes of Hogwarts castle made to look 700 feet tall. The Hogwarts school is where the legendary hagrid Harry Potter attended his boarding school with witch headmaster and wizard teachers.
The Universal Island park also has two roller coasters called Flight of the Hippogriff and Dragon Challenge, along with themed stores like Honeydukes confectionary and Ollivander's Wand Shop. The Dragon Challenge, a twin high-speed roller coaster is an outcome of the Triwizard Tournament and the second ride - the family roller coaster Flight of the Hippogriff is named after a creature with an eagle's head and a horse's body.

The Harry Potter theme park
The visitors to the Universal Island Park will enter the Wizardry World through a station archway named after Hogsmeade, the fictitious village near Hogwarts. A plume of steam and a train whistle will sound the arrival of the Hogwarts Express. The aim of the adventure is to make the guests experience immersive, and come out of the Hogsmeade station archway spellbound.
In words of Paul Daurio, the producer of the Potter area - "Along those journeys they're going to be swept up into the greatest parts of the movies and the books. We've pushed every technology available to us to give guests a theme park experience unlike any they've had before".
How much of the effort has gone?
A hell lot of effort in recreating the design themes from the mystical mind of JK Rowling has been put into innovate and recreate the Artistic and aesthetic mesmerizing views. You will be glad to know that, set directors from the films, including Oscar-winning production designer Stuart Craig and art director Alan Gilmore, were hired to translate the movies into the theme park.
We hear that Rowling known for carefully guarding the Potter franchise, has not yet journeyed to Orlando but may plan a visit. However, the design team has made several trips to London to consult the intricate ideas and take suggestions from her.

The Mesmerizing World of Wizardry in the Children's Theme Park
Every shop and eating outlet is themed on Harry Potter. Honeydukes sells chocolate shaped frogs and Bertie Bott's Every-Flavour Beans, Ollivander's peddles magic wands, Zonko's joke shop has Sneakoscopes, and the restaurant Three Broomsticks pours butter beer.
Magical instruments, toys and riddles are available at Dervish and Banges, including everything needed to play Quidditch. At "The Owl Post", guests can even post letters with a stamp of Hogsmeade postmark. The interesting thing about Harry Potter is that the stories are so rich in imagination and creativity that there is lot of stuff that can be made theoretically but the reality in executing the technicalities was a challenge to the creators of the hagrid harry Potter's world. Universal Creative president Mark Woodbury conveyed - "There wasn't so much difficulty of creating the look, it was, 'How do you execute at a level of authenticity that is unquestionable?'"

Harry Potter Diagon Alley Board Game
The object is to visit all of the shops on the board and purchase one of each item for your wizard's trunk. The first player to fill their trunk and return to the Leaky Cauldron wins. You have to pass by Gringott's Wizard Bank several times to get enough money (plastic galleons, sickles and knuts) to purchase everything. Hogwart's school supply list includes potion bottles, cauldrons, robes, wands, books and owls.
The shops don't have enough for everyone, so you must hurry. Spell and havoc cards let you take items, move using floo powder, close shops and more. There is also always the danger that you'll be sent to Knockturn Alley by rolling double cauldrons. The game includes simplified rules for younger players. These include stocking shops with enough items for everyone, changing the "take a card" spaces to "roll again" spaces, and no being sent to Knockturn Alley.
