Lego Advent Calendar Review
Lego Advent Calendar Review
Where does a Lego Advent Calendar fit into the Christmas holiday? It can be a big part of the celebration.
The four weeks leading to Christ's birth is a time of anticipation for the coming celebration - at least, that's what it was until I started working as the manager of a local toy store. Those years working in that business brought me to reality. The 4 weeks leading up to Christmas is a time of anxiety, stress, and a hurried pace.
Many people have had an advent calendar at some time in their lives. It's typically a small cardboard sheet with little windows that you can open each day leading up to Christmas Day. Inside the windows can be pictures or messages about the nativity or religious figures. Sometimes the doors hide little compartments that contain small gifts or chocolates. They may or may not have any religious significance.
An advent calendar can be used as a tool to bring some anticipation back into the holiday. Though there is nothing particularly religious about a Lego Advent Calendar, it still can help someone to focus on Christmas, anticipate the coming day of celebration, and bring a little peace and joy into a hurried and hectic time of the year.
Lego has been creating advent calendars for a number of years. Each year they issue 1-2 new calendars to add to your collection. Though many of the calendars are still readily available through online sources, some have become quite scarce or even unavailable. The following list identifies the Lego Advent Calendars that were issued each year from the current year, clear back to the calendars that first came out in 1998. I've included the model numbers to help you identify the set to the year of issue.
