Growing up as a kid I was facinated by LEGO and ne'er a Christmas or Birthday went by when I didn't pester my dad for that years biggest lego set. I think at this point it is fair to say that I am yet to out-grow LEGO...and I'm now 26! I remember all-too-familiar look on my mum's face as I tipped my 5th box of LEGO of the day onto an increasingly overpopulated carpet with bricks bouncing under the sofas and generally being a nuisence.

I liked to disregard the instructions and build towns and buildings out of my imagination and I used to be very proud of my creations knowing that no-one else had ever, or will ever, build the same. However these guys take LEGO to a whole 'nother level of creation...

This photo depicts the moment Roger Bannister completes the first ever "Four Minute Mile" in a time of 3mins 59.04secs in 1954.

"Burning Monk"

On June 11th, 1963 a Buddhist protest march was making it's way down one of Saigon's busiest streets, Phan-Dinh-Phung St. The procession of around 400 Buddhist monks and Nuns moved through the city until they hit Le-Van-Duyet St where a light blue Austin that was part of the procession, the car seen in the background of the picture, stopped. The hood was raised as if the car had engine trouble while the nuns and monks in the parade quickly surrounded the car forming a circle of some seven monks deep. Thich Quang Duc a 66 year old monk calmly got out of the car and walked to the center of the circle sitting on a cushion provided for him. His religious brothers removed a jerry can of fuel from the car and proceeded to pour it over Quang-Duc who was now meditating in the lotus position. Quang-Duc with his Buddhist prayer beads in his right hand, then opened a box of matches, lit one and was instantly engulfed in flames. He did not move while his body was incinerated, while Malcome Browne the only western reporter present snapped the picture of the monk on fire.

"Dalitomicus"

It took 28 takes to complete the original photograph (1948), each time throwing cats, water, and the chair up in the air. The canvases were suspended by wire and, of course, Dali had to jump each time. According to Halsman, everyone involved in the project was exhausted at the end...except the cats!

"Raising The Flag On Iwo Jima"

A historic photograph taken on February 23, 1945, by Joe Rosenthal. It depicts five United States Marines and a U.S. Navy corpsman raising the flag of the United States atop Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II.

"Tiananmen Square"

Popularly known as the Tank Man, or the Unknown Rebel, this anonymous man became famous when he pictures of him standing down a column of tanks with just his shopping bag. In April 1998, the United States magazine TIME included the "Unknown Rebel" in its 100 most influential people of the 20th century. It is easily one of the most famous pictures in the world.

"VJ Day Times Square Kiss"

America had been at war for almost 4 years, Germany had finally been knocked out of the conflict three months earlier but Japan still fought on. Finally after nightly bombing raids and two cities wiped out by Atomic explosions, Imperial Japan surrendered. News travelled like wild fire and on August 14, 1945 America celebrated! One of the most famous pictures of World War II, Alfred Eisenstaedt captured this image in the revelry at New York's Time Square.

"Vietnam Execution"

After Nguyen Ngoc Loan raised his sidearm and shot Vietcong operative Nguyen Van Lem in the head he walked over to the reporters and told them that, "These guys kill a lot of our people, and I think Buddha will forgive me." Captured on NBC TV cameras and by AP photographer Eddie Adams, the picture and film footage flashed around the world and quickly became a symbol of the Vietnam War's brutality. Eddie Adams%u2019 picture was especially striking, as the moment frozen is one almost at the instant of death.

The name LEGO is an abbreviation of "leg godt", which is Danish for "play well". Or it could also be interpreted as "I put together" and "I assemble" in Latin.

These must have taken ages to put together and just highlight the scope of entertainment you can have with LEGO! These humourous videos by TimJoeTwins and others use basic storylines and special effects to create several minutes of pure LEGO genious!

Blink 182 - Always

Music Video recreated in LEGO!

This is fantastic! I wanted to illustrate LEGO being used in different forms of media so decided to use my favourite song by my favorite band, Blink 182. Someone has cleverly recreated the music video using what else? LEGO of course! Ok, so the timings might be slightly out in some places and not completely perfect but this is an excellent portrayal.

TIP: Try playing both the videos at the same time with one muted so you can appreciate the work and effort that has gone into this and vote for your favorite!
