Lego fire boat is a gift that can't miss. All children seem fascinated by firemen. Whether it's a fire truck racing to a burning building, or a fireman rescuing a cat that went up a tree and can't come down, the sight of that red fire engine brings sighs and awe in a child's eye. Getting a little plastic fire helmet from a real fireman can make anyone's day - girls get just as excited as boys when they get to wear the red helmet. So of course fire station related toys are a big hit with kids. Lego City fire boat is no exception. I mean, in a way, fire engine is an ordinary device - just a big red car. But imagine a Fire Boat - a firefighter's ship, that floats up to the fire, has powerful water cannons and never needs to replenish its water tanks - it can flood any sized fire, as long as it is within the reach of its water cannons.

As well as 6 cannons, opening control room that reveals navigation center below, and cabin with bed for the firefighters and friends (don't be surprised if favorite cats, teddy bears and dog make it onto the fire ship). Fire boat's boom can rotate 360 degrees and move up and down 45 degrees, and yes, there is a dinghy too. In total, 306 pieces of sheer Lego fun.
The Lego City Fire Boat will really float in a bathtub, though it does take on water over time. The solution is to take it out of the water and let it drain out. Then you are good to go again. The crane assembly makes the boat a bit top heavy. You could remove it, or try a bit of ballast at the bottom of the boat. Try both, see which works better for you. The dinghy is supposed to work well in the water - well, I think it kind of gets washed under the waves. Still, the whole set is fairly easy to build, and as soon as you get the fire ship completed - you are ready to play.

Pretend play is very important for children - it helps with development of imagination, creativity and with manual dexterity as well. Fire Ship is a wonderful toy that encourages children to dream, to imagine new situations, heroic action, danger and adventure. And all that even when a child plays alone. If friends come over, you can add social interaction, problem solving and planning skills to the list of what your child will have an opportunity to practice and learn. Naturally, parents and grandparents can play too. Adding grownup perspective to the play will further enrich the child. Not to mention that your child will be delighted - kids love playing with parents. And parents get to have fun too. You can forget daily troubles, and concentrate on floating the Fire Ship close enough to the fire so the dinghy can be launched for the rescue.

Lego City Fire Ship makes a wonderful Christmas gift. Naturally, it would also be a great birthday gift. You could even give a gift without an occasion - just because it is fun to play, and you and your child will get to play together. Enjoy!
