If you have the funds and the patience to build the Lego Millennium Falcon, I recommend it with sincere enthusiasm. It is the crown jewel of the LEGO product line, past and present. Few LEGO models come close to offering similar challenge and satisfaction.
Many, many, eons ago, I collected LEGO with a passion unmatched by any other hobby I've ever had. My parents used to joke that we'd spent so much on LEGO that we could have purchased a house, or perhaps built one from all of the pieces we'd collected. We still have tens of thousands of parts from LEGO sets produced in the 80s, but they've lain untouched in a basement for well over a decade.
The Ultimate Collector Series and some of the other large, sophisticated models produced in the past few years have reintroduced me to the joy of LEGO models. The UCS Falcon, in particular, was such a satisfying model to build that it prompted the purchase of half-a-dozen additional large sets.
It's an amazing model. Challenging, time consuming, fantastically detailed, and enormous when completed. It reminds me of the awesome models I used to see in the 80s when LEGO toured cities in the US with large, to-scale reproductions of famous buildings. It's the type of model that instills a desire to work for LEGO, or spend all of your free time searching for and building models of similar caliber.

I recommend the Lego Millennium Falcon because...
It's a big model, and it becomes difficult to attach some of the final sections without knocking off previously completed elements. Much of this stems from the fact that it weighs quite a bit, and it's about three feet long, so you can't really hold it while you work on it. You'll need a large, dedicated workspace to get around it and keep track of the huge number of pieces. The fun is in the building (which was an arduous challenge) but the final result is breathtaking. It's very appealing, but a bit tough to move around once it's completed. Make sure you have plenty of room! Bottom line, it's exhausting to build, but once it's finished you'll love it more than any other LEGO set you've ever built. It's worth every penny spent and It will swallow your other Lego Millenium Falcon whole.
When I was a little kid I used to always play with my LEGOs, building spaceships, while watching one of the Star Wars movies on tape. After I finished my model, I would recreate some epic battle in space usually involving the Transformers, GI Joes and the Gobots and my giant LEGO ship would always get to crash into the ground and explode into tiny little LEGO blocks all over the living room. Back in my day, the LEGO Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon would have made a spectacular mess, er crash except my parents never would have shelled out nearly $500 for LEGOs.
