Lego Power Miners Sets
The Lego Power Miners Sets are the newest set from Lego. The Power Miners were released in January 2009. The theme takes place underground. The sets consist of miners and rock monsters. The miners have various cool vehicles that can drill and break up rock underground. The various miners are Brains, Doc, Duke and Rex. The rock monsters eat colored crystals that can make them change color. The five monsters are Meltrox, Glaciator, Boulderax, Sulfurix and Firox. The miners are trying to collect the crystals. But, the rock monsters won't give any up.
My sons are very excited about this new set. They were so glad to get a rock monster to play with all of their other Legos. My oldest is hoping to get the Thunder Driller for his birthday in May.

Lego Power Miners sets: Stone Chopper
The Stone Chopper contains 1 miner and a red Meltrox rock monster. It has 31 pieces and is recommended for ages 6-12. It is basically a motorcycle with 2 saw blades in the front for wheels.

The Mine Mech contains 1 miner and a green Boulderax rock monster. It has 67 pieces and is for ages 7-12. It is a robotic suit used to get into smaller places that the vehicles can't.

The Granite Grinder contains 1 miner and a blue Glaciator rock monster. It has 94 pieces and is recommened for ages 7-12. It has rubber tank like treads, a jackhammer and a removable trailer for hauling crystals.

The Claw Digger includes 1 miner and a Green Boulderax rock monster. This set has 197 pieces and is for ages 7-12. It has large spiked wheels and two claws that go up and down for smashing rocks. after the rocks are smashed it scoops the up in its shovel.

The Crystal King set includes two Power Miners and a giant rock monster. The set includes 168 pieces featuring a spinning drill tool, dynamite and yellow crystals. The Crystal King rock monster has spiky armor, moveable arms and legs and an opening mouth and hands.

The Boulder Blaster is an exclusive set for Toys R Us. It contains 1 miner and blue Glaciator rock monster. It has 293 pieces and is recommended for ages 7-14. It can shoot out dynamite sticks, then clear away rocks with the front plow-like blades for larger vehicles.
Lego Power Miners: Titanium Command Rig
The Command Rig contains 1 blue rock monster, 1 large rock throwing monster and 3 miners. There are 706 pieces. There is a drill that spins when it moves and it can be rotated for vertical drilling. There is a cage and a crane for the rock monster. It also has a net shooter and a dynamite launcher.

The Crystal Sweeper contains 2 miners and both a blue Glaciator rock monster and a red Meltrox rock monster. It contains 474 pieces and is recommended for ages 8-14. This set looks really cool with its rock monster catapult, drill and sweeper for picking up crystals. But, the price and complaints about it falling apart easily make it seem like a poor choice unless it is just for decoration. All of the other Power Miners Sets are much better.
