Lego Star Wars Jedi T6 Shuttle, set 7931

Ranked #8,596 in Hobbies, Games & Toys, #112,507 overall

Star wars and lego, a winning combination

The T6 Jedi Shuttle, in lego. What kid doesn't like lego?

And Star Wars lego to boot, there isn't much cooler to a small boy than Star Wars and Lego in the same sentence. The T6 Jedi Shuttle is currently the coolest lego round here, as my 6 year old son received this particular set for Christmas.

And you know what?

My son has not yet seen more than about 15 minutes of any Star Wars movie, promptly deeming them too scary 'for now'. So that to me just proves Star Wars lego is cool all on its own, prior knowledge not needed.

What age is set 7931 good for?

T6 Jedi Shuttle not for a six year old?

Well, the recommendation on the T-6 Jedi Shuttle box is for ages 8-14. In my experience, that will depend entirely on the kid. Obviously any age can play with it, although my 6 year old has forbidden his 3 year old brother from picking it up because he's sure he'll drop it.

It's actually fairly robust, despite the somewhat fragile appearance of the wings. It's a two-handed pick up job, but even if you do happen to pick it up by the wings instead of with perhaps one hand underneath, the wings stay firmly attached, despite me being sure they wouldn't.

The building is a little complicated, but not too much so that my 6 year old couldn't get a fair way into it on his own. He didn't get anything terribly wrong, just the odd bit slightly misplaced and was bit bamboozled by the engine.

As was I apparently, my dear husband pointed out several mistakes once he'd had time to take a good look at it. I told him that's what comes from trying to put together a space ship at 7.30am the day after Christmas after having spent the entire previous day with YOUR extended family. Humpf.

However, the kinks got worked out and there it stood in all its glory, landing gear down and with Shaak Tiin and Obi-Wan Kenobi firmly installed in the cockpit/escape pod.

Without their lightsabers as it turns out, as they don't fit.

And here's the whole crew on the ground, ready to go:

DID YOU KNOW...

The plural of Jedi
is Jedi.

Not Jedis.

Star Wars minifigures for T6 Jedi Shuttle

These are the four Jedi who come with the T6 Jedi Shuttle. We have Shaak Ti, Saesee Tiin, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. In this set, both Anakin and Obi-Wan also come with lightsabers.

Do you have a favourite Jedi?

Or are you one with the DARK SIDE......

Particulars of the T6 Jedi Shuttle

(aka the really cool stuff)

As shown before, the cockpit detaches and turns into an escape pod.

Only two Jedi can be in the cockpit at any one time though, so the other two will no doubt be fighting the good fight on some planet or other.

The roof comes off the pod fairly easily, but it doesn't hinge so it actually needs to be taken off and reattached. The control panel is in there, currently being operated by Saesee Tiin and Obi-Wan.

And this is where the pod reattaches, it easily clips in and out, so no drama there.

The whole shuttle can actually revolve around the pod, like this:

Very handy for slipping in between asteroids I'm sure.

Also, you can shoot a few missiles at whoever you are chasing across the galaxy. The missiles are launched by pushing in this blue part of the engine, one on each side, so two missiles total.

Photobucket

And the missiles launch from here, the trick being they can only be launched when the cockpit is rotated as per a previous photo.

Photobucket

See? Launched from right here.....

And the shuttle has landing gear, which, practically speaking, allows it to sit stably on a flat surface. Landing gear must be up to rotate the shuttle though.

Lego Star Wars T6 Jedi Shuttle

Here it is!

And can I just say, I paid a lot more than is advertised here for this very set when I bought it locally in Australia.

Video review of the T6 Jedi Shuttle

By the Brick Show

This is a fairly comprehensive review of the Shuttle, complete with their own rating. They look for different things than my 6 year does though, when deciding how cool a particular set is. The fact that there are 4 light sabers involved gives it a top ranking from my kid.

Do you own any star wars lego?

Or perhaps you've bought some for someone else? Share!

Oh, and if you know why Lego is so dang expensive in Australia, share that too, would ya? :)

And one final image....

This picture is in the back of the instruction booklet.

My 3 year old now tells me he will ask for the pictured Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship for his upcoming birthday.

That's the green ship in the background, for those not well versed in Star Wars.

Like myself.

Though I suspect by the end of my children's childhood, I will know everything there is to know about Star Wars, whether I want to or not.

May the Force be with you.
