Pirate Code from LEGO Games

Shiver me timbers and break the code!

Ready to steal the treasure? Well you have to break the code first!

Welcome to LEGO Pirate Code GameLEGO Pirate Code! Where you can capture the treasures and become the pirate captain by breaking the codes of the other pirates. It's a game of luck and logic sure to entertain the entire crew on family game night.

Pirate Code is part of a series of board games from Lego that you build, play, and change. Since they're built out of Lego pieces, you can feel free to build the board however you like and make up your own rules. Even the dice has to be built! And since for this game it's colors instead of numbers, make them mean whatever you like.

I love that they've made these games are not only Lego cool, but creative and changeable. And I can so see bringing in ideas from the other games as well to make them even more complicated and fun.

This lens was originally started by SusanVillasLewis and I was later handed over the helm.

How to Play Pirate Code

Use luck and logic to capture your opponent's treasure

Ready to break the Pirate Code?Pirate Code You'll need your best thinking skills and a little luck to do it!

Start the game by building the board and dice. Each player then takes one of the treasure chests, picks some gems and sets their "code" inside. No peeking!

Roll the dice and get a color. You get to take one gem of that color and another gem of your choice to use to try to guess the other player's code. Place the gems in front of their treasure chest to see how you do. First one to guess the other player's code wins!

Make up your own rules to create an entirely different game if you like. Some people like to play with empty spaces as an option, sometimes the rules say you can't repeat a color. It's up to you!

Ever Played Mastermind?

Similar concept, just as much fun.

Several of the reviews I read made mention of Battleship as a comparison to Pirate Code. But to me, it's more like an updated version of Mastermind. Ever play that?

It's a similar and simpler concept than Pirate Code. One person creates a code of four colored pegs -- choosing from yellow, red, orange, blue, green, or white -- and conceals it behind a flip-up shield. The other person has to break the code in 10 moves or fewer relying on cryptic help from the codemaker with each move. With more than 2,000 possible combinations, it's a brain challenge for sure!
