Lego Sets - Great Gift for Kids Of All Ages
Legos have sure come a long way. My grandson played with them when he was younger and now that he is 9 years old, he is actually building and creating with them. They come in different shapes and sizes now and there are even specialized sets. They are really amazing and are so beneficial to the child no matter what the age.
I wanted some of the larger ones which are called Duplo to take this picture for the introduction. I decided to call the local PreSchool called PEEPS and ask if I could borrow some for a little while. It was so funny. I went to pick them up at Pendleton United Methodist Church and one little boy got very concerned that I might not bring them back. All the children were watching as I picked out a few and then another little one insisted that I could not take the Duplo Wagon because he was going to play with it.
Yes, Legos are fun for children, teenagers, and adults and make wonderful gifts.
The Official Lego Website
It is even fun!
Lego Official Website
According to the official Lego Website,
"The name 'LEGO' is an abbreviation of the two Danish words "leg godt", meaning "play well". It's our name and it's our ideal."
I never knew what Lego stood for and found this to be very interesting. They really live by the words "play well", I think by continuing to improve on their product and make it interesting for each generation but still maintain the original design that fosters creativity.
"The LEGO Group was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Christiansen. The Company has passed from father to son and is now owned by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, a grandchild of the founder.
Isn't that amazing that it has managed to stay in the family for that many years. I think that is wonderful and really speaks well for the Lego Group.
Their main office is in Denmark but their products are sold in over 130 countries according to their website.
This website is very enjoyable and even has activities for the children plus a lot of valuable information for educators as well as parents.
The LEGO Learning Institute - Whole Child Development Guide
LEGO cares about your child.
The LEGO official website offers a guide for parents on the development of the whole child and how the LEGO products fit into that development. From reading their website, it is easy to learn why LEGO has proven to be so popular and benefical to every child.

Wikipedia describes Legos
Lego is a line of construction toys manufactured by the Lego Group, a privately held company based in Billund, Denmark. The company's flagship product, Lego, consists of colorful interlocking plastic bricks and an accompanying array of gears, minifigures and various other parts. Lego bricks can be assembled and connected in many ways, to construct such objects as vehicles, buildings, and even working robots. Anything constructed can then be taken apart again, and the pieces used to make other objects. The toys were originally designed in the 1940s in Europe and have achieved an international appeal, with an extensive subculture that supports Lego movies, games, competitions, and four Lego-themed amusement parks.

- Legos are lots of fun. My brother used to play with them in the 1970's and my kids still love them today. They make many new shapes but you can never have enough of them.
As a teacher, I always request donations of used Legos. We use them to teach math, in science projects and to create replicas of scenes that we read in stories.
