Leisel Jones Australian Olympic Swimmer

Leisel Jones is one of the most accomplished swimmers in the world. Leisel has represented Australia in the past 3 Olympic Games.

In 2006 Leisel Jones became only the fourth woman in 15 years to win the Australian Swimmer of the Year award. This was just one week after she was honoured as the World Swimmer of the Year for setting five world records since January 2006. Leisel also won Swimming Australia's 'Short Course Swimmer of the Year' award, shared the Golden Moment's prize with the world record-breaking women's 4×100m medley relay team at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and won the 'People's Choice' award, chosen by the Australian voting public as the country's most popular swimmer.

In Melbourne in 2006 Leisel became the first woman in history to complete the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke treble at a Commonwealth Games, was named Swimmer Of The Meet. Leisel was selected as the 472-strong Australian team flag-bearer at the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony. In 2005 she was named 'World Swimmer of the Year,' Queensland Academy of Sport 'Athlete of the Year,' Swimming Australia's 'Golden Moment' and Swimming Australia's 'Female Breaststroker of the Year' for the fifth consecutive year.

At the Olympics, she was 15 at the time of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, making her the youngest Australian ever to win an Olympic Games swimming medal when she claimed silver medals in the 100m breaststroke and the 4×100m medley relay.

At the 2004 Olympics Leisel finished 3rd on the 100m Breaststroke and 2nd in the 200m breaststroke and followed this up in Beijing in 2008 with gold in the 100m breaststroke, silver in the 200m breaststroke and gold as a member of the 4 x 100m Medley relay.

Hello Leisel,
My name is Anna-Maria and I'm 13 years old. I am from Greece.
I am a fan of yours and when I grow up I want to be able to swim as fast as you can.
My record at 50m breaststroke is 37.47, at 100m 1.19 and at 200m 2.51. This year I was taken to the national team and I find it very difficult to adjust to my new program because both school and training are hard!!! But I think that this change will help me improve my swimming skill!! I'm writting to you because I think that you can give some useful advice and a lot of courage!!
With love,
your fan...Anna-Maria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
