What is the Lemonade Detox Diet?
The Lemonade Diet, also called the Master Cleanse is not really a diet at all. Although you can lose a lot of weight on it, it's really more of total body cleanse.
Unlike fade of the day diets and cleanses, the Lemonade Diet was created in 1941 by Stanley Burroughs. It became popular through a book by Peter Glickman called Lose Weight, Have More Energy and Be Happier in 10 Days.
Thousands of people have used it. Beyonce has used it to lose weight before shooting a movie. Robin Quivers, of the Howard Stern Show, has used the diet, also.
What's It Like?
The Lemonade diet is a semi-fast. When you're on it, you don't eat solid food. You drink a potent mixture of lemon juice, maple syrup, water and Cayenne pepper. Since you're not eating solid food for several days, some people require laxative tea at night for the first day or so, until their body adjusts.
You're supposed to stay on the diet for at least 10 days. So, coming off of the diet takes some care.
I mean, you can't just jump from 10 days of lemon juice and syrup to a medium-rare steak! You have to introduce other foods slowly.
This is a staged diet, or cleanse. The first day or two are probably the most difficult in terms of hunger, dizziness, and headaches.
After that, people report a renewed sense of energy and vitality! No clinical studies have been done on this diet to my knowledge, but anecdotal evidence says that a number of people feel they have restored their health through this detox process.
Who Should Go On This Diet
Anyone who wants to detoxify!
The Lemonade Detox Diet is much more than a diet. Some believe that detoxification is a component missing in Western health care. This diet is a great way to restore emotional and physical health.
