Detoxing the body while the body is experiencing the life change can be helpful in easing the symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes, anxiety, weight gain and a host of other symptoms!

 

Being of baby boomer age, nature took its course and I entered menopause and with it I experienced changes such as weight gain that I was not happy about.

I knew that a detoxification program would help me, but was not sure which one I would pick. I had read of Beyonce losing 20 pounds on the Master Cleanse diet or Lemonade Diet as its also called, and was intrigued to read more about it and willing to give it a try. TheLemonade Diet.com

I didn't have any attachments about the change of life, such as feeling "older", but the sudden drop in hormones did shake me up. I did not get hot flashes, but old panicky feelings came back, my blood pressure was high and I ended up gaining and extra 15 pounds, and I was concerned it could also lead to more weight gain if I didn't watch myself. No matter how proactive or mindful we are, the fact is simple: whether women breeze through menopause or struggle with it, the change of life is like puberty in reverse, the fluctuations of the hormones puts stress on the body, so there will be noticeable changes. I consider myself lucky that I have always been mindful about self-care even if I am not perfect in following a strict regimen, but I use common sense and the wisdom that the years can afford one.

Realizing that my body was changing, and not being as tolerant of indulgences or having a toxic body, I decided to try the Stanley Burrough's Master Cleanse program, which has been around for 70 years! This alone is confirmation that this is not a fad diet or detoxification program that will soon be forgotten as another new program shows up; but a method that has helped thousands of people through the years to not only lose weight, but to regain their health.

The cleanse consists of abstaining from solid food for a minimum of 10 days, and drinking spring water where Organic Maple B syrup, cayenne powder and lemons have been added. Most dieters do not generally feel hungry; the mixture somehow suppresses the appetite. Maple B syrup has a large variety of minerals and vitamins, such as magnesium Manganese, Iron, Copper, Phosphorus, Vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, and a host of other nutrients that will nourish your body while abstaining from solid food.

The recommend recipe for the lemonade drink, as outlined by the late Naturopath Stanley Burroughs:

2 Tablespoons lemon juice or lime juice
2 Tablespoons real maple syrup
1/10 Teaspoon cayenne pepper
8-oZ water

Combine the first three ingredients in a jar, add water and shake.

I did the cleanse for 10 days, and lost 14 pounds, and most significant is my blood pressure normalized, I was stunned to see tangible results and confirmation that it IS the food we eat, and toxins that creates imbalances, and magnifies menopausal symptoms. My body didn't seem to care that it was in menopause, it responded well to the tender loving care I gave it by cleaning it on the inside. I was pleased to see that my sense of smell sharpened, and my skin had a glow to it. A nice bonus to having one's body cleansed!

My mild panic attacks subsided, but I added inositol a B nutrient to my health regimen after the cleanse. I will write about this supplement which has been clinically proven to help with panic attacks and anxiety in another lens.

I now do the Master Cleanse twice a year to keep my body in balance and weight under control, and I feel great!
