What a great lens! I LOVE lemurs, they are so sweet and adorable. I love it how they are all so sweet to each other and are so concerned about little baby's in the group. I've taken many pictures of them which can be found in my shop.

Lemur's are such an adorable animal... and their tails are just amazing!!! So many animals are endangered, it is sad. So many could do so much more to try to help the situation, even little things like recycling and reducing water waste would cause a ripple effect that would help out so much more... some just don't realize.

Recently I was lucky enough to go into the Lemur enclosure at a zoo, can't recall why but we were not to encourage the ring tails to jump on us, but I had rough necked lemurs all over me, well as long as I had food for them! I fell in love with them all and really want to campaign for their restoration as they are seriously in danger of extinction, do you know of any animal welfare groups that champion this cause specifically?

I love learning something new about things I thought I knew. I love lemurs. They always reminded me of a cross between a racoon and a monkey. Thanks for sharing such a great lens.

Lemurs are great. Thanks for a fun lens! I think my favorite lemur video to date is one of Verreaux's Sifaka (the skipping lemur) here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5vJZIhxORo

The Philadelphia Zoo has a walk through lemur area, also. They are so cute! =D

The Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha has recently opened a lemur island that ou can walk amidst a bunch of different lemur types. The are so cute, until they all sort hooting at the same time. Then it's a little creepy. :)
  • Kylyssa Aug 23, 2010 @ 2:27 pm | delete
I love lemurs! Our local zoo has several lemurs with birth defects that would not allow them to survive in the wild and they are cute as heck.
  • Blonde_Blythe May 26, 2010 @ 5:55 pm | delete
They're gorgeous! I especially love the ring-tailed lemur! I'm amazed at how long its tail is, and I love those stripes! wonderful lens! :-)

excellent coverage of lemurs. I did not know that they were endangered. Are there not very many lemurs in zoos, etc around the world? Is it possible that the species could become extinct?

  • AndyPo May 8, 2009 @ 6:46 am | delete

We love to see the lemurs at the Miami MetroZoo and hope some day to travel to Madagascar and find that they are again thriving there.

This should be added to the Endangered Species Group! I haven't seen the show Lemur Kingdom on Animal Planet come back yet, I wonder if they renewed it... I'm sure it was difficult to film. http://www.squidoo.com/groups/endangeredspecies

I didn't realize the Lemur was endangered. It is such a cute little thing. I'd hate to see it disappear.
    Great lens

Great lens. I featured it on my new lensography on the environment. Go check it out and add your favorite environment links to the plexo: http://www.squidoo.com/environment-lensography

There's also a duel about the question: is the environment more important, or the economy?

Great lens! Lemurs are cool, have you seen the show "Lemur Kingdom" on Animal Planet? If you like lemurs it's a must-see. It's narrated as if it were a drama, paying close attention to the subtleties of their interactions. It's pretty cool!
  • Gregory-and-Shelina May 2, 2008 @ 1:26 pm | delete
I had no idea that the lemur couldn't hang on with their tail. Aren't they great! Sounds like you love Discovery Channel too. Thanks for a great lense. Shelina (of Gregory and Shelina)
