Lenses All in One Place

My husband and I are free-lance stock photographers with a very large inventory of pictures on slide film. Since discovering flip mino camcorder we have some videos, too. Squidoo gives me a good way to high light some of my favorite places and subjects. After making 70 Squidoo lenses, I was honored to be made a Giant Squid on April 7, 2009 and to be selected for the Giant 100 Club on October 5, 2009.

Purple Star Lenses 

Dandelion Weeds won the new PURPLE STAR award for excellence in the first weekly contest open only to Giant Squids. It was in the Top 100 Lenses for 41 days and was #2 in House and Garden. My thanks to all who have visited and voted for it!

Ringling Circus in Sarasota won the PURPLE STAR award on May 8.

Dandelion Weeds
Dandelions are weeds when they grow in your flower beds, vegetable beds or front lawn. But, parts of the dandelion plant are also used in wine and in cooking. The dandelion flower is used to make dandelion wine and bread and the leaves are used for salad, soup, other dishes.
Circus Museum in Sarasota
The Ringling Brothers Circus used to winter in Sarasota, Florida. John and Mable Ringling built a mansion here. The Ringling mansion, Art Museum, Circus Museum and a beautiful Rose Garden, all on a 66 acre estate, were left to the State of Florida on John Ringling's death.
Mote Marine Laboratory
Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, Florida, is a fascinating place for the whole family to visit. There are tropical fish, shark tanks, and the cafe in the first building. An adjacent building houses turtles, a floor to ceiling aquarium tank for manatee, outdoor tanks on the top floor for dolphins.

Atlanta, Georgia, is a great place to live and to visit. Atlanta has professional baseball, football, and basketball teams for sports fans. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is a musical gem. Atlanta's many museums expand learning experiences.The zoo has Giant Pandas and more.
Detroit, Michigan
There are lots of interesting things to do and see in Detroit. Visit one of the many museums, take a boat ride, visit Belle Island in the Detroit River, go over the bridge for a day trip to Windsor, Canada or find more here. Watch a Red Wings hockey game, Lions football game, Tigers baseball game.

We took the boat trip on the Seine that stops at the Eiffel Tower and at Notre Dame Cathedral. This is Notre Dame Cathedral with its rose garden in front. The church choir was practicing in an upper room with the windows open. The music added a lot to the setting.
San Diego, California
San Diego, California, is a great place to live or to visit. The weather is comfortable and there are so many things to see and to do. A relatively new feature is the waterfront sculpture. Statues are part of a yearly competition. Baseball, museums, symphony, zoo and Gaslamp District all add interest.

Sarasota, Florida, Great Place to Live or Visit
Sarasota, located on Florida's west coast, is a great place to live or visit. The weather is warm all year long, the beaches have lots of sand and sea shells, and there are parks, museums, and world class stores to shop. Boats of all kinds are available to rent at the downtown Sarasota bayfront park.
Seattle, Washington
Seattle, Washington, is one of my favorite places. This is the view of the city from the downtown hotel in which we stayed on a recent visit. We have worked in the city three times. We enjoy the waterfront, boat cruises, museums, zoo, and botanical garden. Seattle is a great city.
Tampa, Florida
Tampa, Florida, is a city with lots to see and do. As photographers we visit Tampa several times a year to work. The zoo has an extensive collection of wild animals. There are several interesting museums including The Tampa Museum of Art, seen in our picture, and the Museum of Science and Industry.
Tortola, BVI
Tortola is a beautiful island on the top of my wish to visit list. There is surf, sand, sun and shells. You may find shells like these that we collected and photographed. Take a look and see if you don't like it , too.Thanks for visiting.
Vacation in Fort Meyers or Sarasota
Which city is better for a Florida vacation, Fort Meyers or Sarasota? I think Sarasota is better than Fort Meyers for your vacation because there is more to do. Both cities have beaches, but Sarasota has Mote Marine Laboratory, the Ringling Museums, Ringling Mansion,and Ringling Art Museum.
Visit London, England
LONDON ENGLAND STREET SCENE FROM THE BACK OF A MOTORCYCLE. This picture was made during a recent trip to London, England. We traveled by foot or by taxi cab. Visit Sanibel Island, Florida

Sarasota RV Parks
Sarasota and neighboring Bradenton, Nokomis, and Venice all have R.V. parks. Some also include manufactured homes in the same park. Sarasota has several RV parks. They are very different one from another. Three are featured here, each with very different settings. More will soon be added.

Nature Walk
Come on a nature walk with me. We'll visit Red Bug Slough Nature Preserve in Sarasota, Florida. First off, what is a 'slough' anyway? A slough is a kind of fresh water swamp with trees. Sloughs get their water from rainfall.

Myakka Park Wildlife
Myakka Park, one of Florida's State Parks, consists of two lakes and vast marshes between them. While hiking the 35 miles of trails you may see alligators, wading birds, ducks, bald eagles, ospreys, sandhill cranes, and vultures. Canoe through water lined with mangrove trees, sabal palm, and oaks.

Marina Jack's restaurant is located downtown in the Sarasota Marina, right on Sarasota Bay. They have fine dining upstairs and casual dining on the first floor and outside on the patio. There is also a piano bar on the patio. They also have a cruise ship that serves sunset dinners.

How I create a lens 

My husband and I are professional freelance stock photographers, Kuyper Photography, so that work provides inspiration for travel and nature lens. Since I enjoy food, some favorite foods are included, too. Now that I have a flip mino camcorder every day presents opportunities for filming and using the video for a new lens. It's great to be able to share these learning experiences with others.

I was invited to join JJJ group in the spring of 2009 and their challenges became the reason to make lenses, It is happening again now that I am a member of the Rocket Moms and Senior Squids.
