How Can I Increase FREE Traffic to a Squidoo Lens? (I don't want to PAY for it!)

 

Hello.  My name is PotPieGirl and I am a "Lens-aholic"... and I need more free traffic to my Squidoo lens!  Do you? There has to be a way to increase traffic to your lens like you would try to get free web site traffic, right?

I love everything about Squidoo.  It's easy, it's fun, and it gets my creative wheels turning.  Anyone can have an online voice with Squidoo!  With Squidoo, many have found their virtual voice, but how do you find your audience?

Getting traffic to your Squidoo Lens is only "easy" if you pay for that traffic.  Sure, you may have the random few "drop-ins", but the average lens will not see much free traffic by accident.  Gotta have traffic to improve your lens rank, increase your website traffic, or to make money with squidoo!

How Can I Increase Traffic to a Squidoo Lens for Free?"

That was the question that plagued me, and sent me on an adventure to find the best way to expose my lens and all the Squidoo lenses for sale on my blog!

    Ways to Get Traffic to your Squidoo Lens 

    When you don't pay for traffic with paid advertising (PPC), getting traffic to your lens is a bit more "hands on". This will require you put a system in place to lead people to your lens.

    You can mix-n-match any of the traffic-generating techniques below - or use ALL of them.
    • Organic Traffic - This will be the "easiest" of them all. This technique requires you create quality, keyword-rich content on your lens so the search engines send you targeted traffic. Learning how to properly create a lens here on Squidoo is the first step, and the ground work, that is mandatory to a successful lens.

    • Article Marketing - Marketing with articles is a wonderful, and powerful way to promote your lens. These articles leave little breadcrumb-type links back to you lens all over the internet. Don't understand article marketing? Click here

    • Forums - By actively contributing to forums with valuable posts, you can bring exposure to your Squidoo lens by simply placing a link in the signature area. Always check the TOS of each forum - NEVER spam a lens - and be a worthy community member.

    • Blogs - I am definitely learning the value of blogging lately. Promote your lens on your blog, your blog on your lens....it creates a nice little system to help others find your work. Besides - blogging can be a lot of fun. I am having a blast on www.PotPieGirl.com (I also spill some secrets, too!)

    • Craigslist - This is a technique that is worth learning - but don't jump in there "blind". Very powerful!

    • Your Email - Simply placing a link to your lens in the "auto-signature" for your out-going emails lets others know and can lead them there. (note: Do not SPAM and blindly send your links to those you don't know)

    • Videos - Yes, you could even submit "branded" video to YouTube. These viral little movies have a LOT of power to draw traffic.

    • Squidoo Community - Get out there and socialize! Visit other lenses. Leave valuable feed back. Squidoo is a social site after all, be social!

    • Squidoo Groups - Add your lens to some relevant groups here on Squidoo. What a great way to showcase your lens!

    • Social Book-Marking - These web 2.0 social sites are wonderful for bring virtually instant traffic to your lens.

    On my blog, PotPieGirl.com, I spend a lot of time trying to help others make money online. Mainly, I want to help others make that first $10 online. I know from experience, once that first money is made, inspiration and motivation are sure to follow. More importantly than that, after those first few bucks are made, the person believes.
