Squidoo Tags Is Not Just For Beginners

Are you having difficulty getting found? Me too! While I was scouting around to figure out why I happened onto the importance of Squidoo tags on a lens. Follow along with me and see if you too aren't making some of the same mistakes I was. Who knew that Squidoo tags were not the same as putting in keywords? I also discovered a great tool for picking Squidoo tag words. Apparently tagging on Squidoo is a lot like tagging on the streets, if you want to be seen tag near where another well known tagger works.

Tagging Tips

What you might want to know about tagging on Squidoo

Something I didn't know before writing this lens was how tagging really works. To be honest I still am way new at this, but a few things have come to light for me.

You want to be able to rank on the first page of Squidoo's tagging page You may find that page by going to http://www.squidoo.com/tags/keyword (multiple+keyword+what+ever+for+your+long+tail) There is a fine balance between finding a green colored (according to squidutils.com) and having a ton of pages listed for your tag. You want some but not so many that you can't be found on the first page (each page holds 20)

Some how your keywords need to be worked into your tags To be honest with you I'm still working on this one but will keep you posted when I figure it out. GreekGeek gives a good explanation of the two here

Your primary tag Ones primary tag should not be the same as your title! Who knew? It is automatically filled in for you! You need to change this according to SquidUtils.com

Tagging and Tagging

A definition

Tagging Tagging on the streets is a way of identifying the street artist. Tagging on Squidoo seems to be similar in that it identifies the writer of the article or page. We tend to clump our works together in order to get better visibility. This in a way goes toward branding but that is another topic requiring much more research and another article.

Seems to me, from my romp through this interesting topic that one of the best places to start when tagging your piece is to go look at others who have gone before. Look at how they have tagged their

articles. Check out the tags page for a particular tag and make sure you can rank on that page. Finally sprinkle in at least one of your long tail keywords from your Google keyword research, making sure to optimize your title, headings and content for those words.

Okay so now that we have done the research, though it is no where near exhaustive or complete, let's put it in action and see what happens.
