Scott M. Gallagher was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After graduating High School, he drove a 1972 Super Beetle across the country and ended up settling in Hermosa Beach, California. He was a history major at the University of California Los Angeles.

Scott is a published poet and the author of a novel, "Geneva" and a self-help book, "Search Your Self:" 365 Meditations for the Mind, Body and Soul, which was published by William Morrow. He has also written extensively for the Internet. As a hobby, Scott teaches sheep herding and competes in herding competitions. Scott and his dog "Apollo" were featured on CNN. He still resides in Hermosa Beach. Scott lives with his nine-year-old son Dylan and their new dog, a red Border Collie named "Flash."
