My Blog: Diamond Stuff
I have been a community pharmacist for over thirty years -- trained in clinical pharmacy at one of the largest healthcare centers in the South.I am a consultant pharmacist for Medication Therapy Management MTM for the state North Carolina.
I was the President of the Western Michigan Pharmacists Association, the Political Action Chair of that organization, and the District Chairman of the Political Action Committee of the Michigan Pharmacists Association.
I have been the spokesman for pharmacists in contract dealings with large area businesses, insurance companies, local government; and, have negotiated successfully with an HMO to provide prescription services from pharmacies in our area.
During that period I was elected President of Pharmco, Inc., a buying group that represented about fifty drug stores-independent pharmacies and small chains-located in the Western Michigan area. Total annual sales that went through Pharmco's books were around 50 Million Dollars.
For seventeen years prior to coming to North Carolina I owned and managed South Shore Pharmacy in Holland, Michigan. The two former owners were unsuccessful at that location. I was able to make the business profitable during the first year. It remained profitable until I sold it to Walgreens before moving here.
I have been to Haiti on medical missions several times, am active on the Finance Committee at church; also, closely associated with with the Spanish outreach program. I work with people who need help budgeting.
I recently completed six months of Clinical Pharmacy training at Carolinas Healthcare System at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
I am a member of American MENSA, an organization for gifted people.
