My Bio
I began studying foreign languages (French) in 1962 and have been studying them ever since.

I began studying foreign languages (French) in 1962 and have been studying them ever since.
Languages have fascinated me to the point where I studied linguistics, structural linguistics, historical linguistics, tranformational generative grammer, French, Spanish, Italian, and even initiated a morphemic and phonemic analysis of Zapotec (an American Indian Language spoken in Mexico).
Of course when you are learning languages, you want to travel to the areas of the world where they are spoken, so traveling has become a hobby as well. Last year I spent some time in England, France, and Italy and knowing something about the local language adds significantly to the enjoyment of the experience.
My wife, who has previously studied French, is only 6 credits from completing her Master's Degree in Chinese Language (Mandarin) and Literature and my daughter is currently translating a book written in the French language (the language she is currently studying) into Italian (which she studied in Italy). She also studied one year of Latin in High School along with three years of high school Spanish and two years of college Spanish.
My son's wife was born in Lisbon, Portugal of a mother who was half Portuguese and half Brizilian and whose father was half Panamanian and half American (U.S.A.) Both her parents are tri-lingual (Portuguese, Spanish, and English) with some knowledge of French as well.
So, you might say, I am surrounded by a multi-lingual environment. Therein may lie the interest.
Perhaps we'll meet somewhere along the road one day.
