I'm currently wheelchair bound following a prolonged infection from surgery brought on by the affects of a 13 year battle with MS. The inability to walk also resulted in me losing a job I loved, and I hope to soon be back to my work with children and families in the Human Services field. Who knows what is next on the horizon, but I'm happiest when working & helping kids and families!

I had an "interesting childhood," to say the least, because my mom has struggled with a mental illness her entire life and had me during the late '60s at 16. I spent time in and out of foster homes...both former foster homes and familial homes and suffered all varieties of abuse. I spent lots of time in life being angry,isolated, or depressed about those difficult times in childhood, but I've come to a place in life where I'm on the road to forgiving those who have hurt me nad truly embraced those who have helped me. "LookingforLishy" seemed to be the perfect title for me on Squidoo because that's exactly what I'm doing, I'm truly "looking for Lishy!" Because I have the time, as I've been unemployed since finding myself in a wheelchair, I'm focusing on my writing. I've been working on an autobiographical journal off and on for 10 years or so, but because of the difficult content, found it hard to battle my illness, parent 2 children and work full-time & sometimes 2 jobs while writing. Sometimes, each page I'd write would break me down into tears and the effects would lasts weeks, and other times I'd write 50 pages with no emotional reaction. This venue allows me to break things into sections...even completely unrelated issues, and all while focusing on just my needs for once! I'm excited to "meet" some other writers as well.
