- Please help!! I am doing a piece for my AP art class and I am, I think, one of the only students or person to ever use it, so I don't know what to do. I have used silver clay and torch fired it. Some sites said that I can torch fire bronze clay. I torch fired mine and it became brittle and parts broke off. I resealed them with slip. I found out only the fastfire type can be torched. If I put mine in the kiln right now even with it being partly hard and black, will it wreck it? And how long should it be in for if that makes a difference. Thank you.

- Hi Kelsey,
All brands and formulas of bronze must be kiln-fired after being buried in activated carbon (the type sold specifically for metal clay firing) inside a covered firing container. Unfortunately I don't think it will be possible for you to salvage the bronze clay piece you torch-fired by putting it into the kiln now (and if you do want to try, you'll need to bury it in activated carbon inside a lidded firing container). Your best (and maybe only) option is to re-make the piece from fresh Original BRONZclay and kiln-fire it according to the firing schedules and instructions on my BRONZclay Squidoo lens at www.squidoo.com/bronzclay, where you will find extremely detailed information about working with Original BRONZclay. And in the future you may want to buy FASTfire BRONZclay, which still needs to be kiln-fired in activated carbon but takes fewer hours to fire and has a lovely consistency that is much easier to work with than the Original BRONZclay formula. Hope this helps and good luck with your art class project!

- Please help!! I am doing this for my AP art class and I am the only person familiar with it and my teacher hasn't used it before either. I am using Bronzclay 30. I have used and torch fired the silver clay and I torched the Bronzclay. It is black and brittle. I looked it up and some sites say that you can only use a kiln. Is that true, if so, will putting it on the kiln wreck itt?
