My Bio:
My name is Zachary Saunders. I was born in Hooksett, NH and soon after began a string of moves related to my father's job. I spent some time in the south, the mid west, and eventually found my way back to New England.
I attended both high school and college in New Hampshire. I went to Pinkerton Academy for high school, and soon found myself looking at colleges that ranged in location from one coast to the other.
I finally decided on the University of New Hampshire, Durham Campus. I had spent most of my life moving before I had to get too attached to a place, and I decided to stick around and see what "making a place a home" would feel like for me.
At UNH I was a Theoretical Mathematics major and a rower on the UNH men's crew team. Through a series of seemingly unrelated events I found myself involved in the student government, taking/teaching swing dancing lessons, and rock climbing as often as possible. I also had a small part in starting the UNH Student Motion Picture Association.
I have always been an extremely driven person. I see things I want and I go after them. This has rarely been through a concerted effort, and more often than not the direct result of what I see around me, and knowing it should be better.
This phenomena isn't limited to other people and things. I am constantly looking to 'complete' aspects of my life. An exercise I call it "filling in the pieces". Good enough is rarely good enough for me.
After school I found myself in a pretty typical situation: no plan, no direction and worst of all no money. I fell back on the job that had supported me through high school and college; construction. Some of the happiest times of my life were spent with dirt under my nails, and a shirt soaked with sweat. But the simplicity of life after college soon gave way to the pressures of life after college.
That fall, as the weather began to get colder, and I began to rethink my plan (or lack-there-of). I was approached by a loan officer for National City Mortgage and recruited to come and work for them.
Fast forward a few years and here I am, still in southern NH, still climbing, and still trying to "fill in the pieces". The job, at least, can be crossed off that list.
That is my Bio, it may be edited, added to, or tweaked.
But it is who I am.
