I am a largely self-taught artist with a long time interest in the creative arts. After school I studied metallurgy and achieved two higher degrees in different subject areas, never quite getting any satisfaction from this or the jobs which I had. I never lost interest in the arts and in the early '90s I did manage to study water colour painting at my local adult education college over a three year period. Since then I have studied, enjoyed and developed skills in a number of media. I also tackle all subjects including abstract.

Several years ago I co-founded an art group with two of my fellow students to provide a little discipline for painting in an otherwise busy life, we also are able to use the group for exhibitions (and selling our works whenever possible). The group became quite successful with about 40 members at one time, although the driving force for recruiting new members left as she moved out of the area, but at present we have about 12 members which is comfortable and still allows us to function quite well.
