I am Allan P. Tyler, originally from Michigan; I retired to Florida to enjoy the better weather, and finally departed for sunnier skies above on Thursday, January 5, 2012. Here is my official obituary, from the Kalamazoo Gazette.

Allan P. Tyler died at the semi-old age of 79 while residing in Spring Hill, Florida. Formerly of Kalamazoo, MI died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Oak Hill Hospital. Born in Manitowac, WI he moved to Florida 15 years ago from Kalamazoo, MI. He was the building supervisor for 31 years with the Kalamazoo Gazette and was involved with the PTA for the Kalamazoo Public School system spending seven years on the public school board and was also an Assistant Manager & coach for the Little League in Kalamazoo. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Betty J. Tyler. Survivors include his sons, Dan (Barbara) Tyler of Kalamazoo, MI, David (Ella) Tyler of Spring Hill, Allan (Lynn) Tyler, Jr. of Lawton, MI; daughter, Anna (Michael) Moskalik of Parchment, MI; brother, John (Marcia) Tyler of Cooper, MI; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Visitation for friends will be 4 to 6 PM Monday, January 9, 2012 at Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hernando County SPCA.

Footnote: Al Tyler was also the companion to my mom, Lillian; they were together for 9+ years. A friend said, "they balanced each other quite well." I got to know Al through the years and rather thought of him as the father-figure in my life. Al, I hope you have found a brighter place up there! --Julie aka JaguarJulie
