Hello! I'm ck23 lensmaster since: January, 2006
About Me
I currently live and work in San Francisco.
I grew up in Ohio, went to the University of Pennsylvania and the
University of London, Kings College where I studied English and
European Literature, philosophy, linguistics, etc. I began
writing and making art, painting and sculpture, in London and Ohio
between 1987-89, and continued until publishing my first novel, Blue,
in 2001 and had several shows. I moved to the Bay Area in 2001, a
few days before 9-11. I lived in Berkeley, Walnut Creek, and now San
Francisco where I have been working on my second novel, making art,
participating in shows like the Black Light Ball, and drinking more
than my weight in caffeinated beverages.
My Lenses
- language is a virus: william s. burroughs and the dream team
- So this lens is about viral language theory as encircled by the writings and thoughts of William S. Burroughs, Antonin Artaud, Laurie Anderson, and a host of others. It is an introduction and meditation, or at least a starting point, for topics...
- William Burroughs
- I already set up a lens page for Burroughs and the people around him, or part of his intellectual world. This is a nice page more focused on just Bill.
- Nathalie Sarraute
- Sarraute has been an influence on my and many others writing. With Tropisms she began to be seen as a new force in French literary circles as part of the "new novel" movement. Influenced by Proust, Joyce, and others, she left standard ideas of narrat...
- Emily Chang
- She has her own, but since SquidWho allowed me to create this one, I figured why not. It is also interested to note, in a Squidoo critique/fun kind of way, how various things that showed up really aren't the Emily Chang we know and love...but t...
- Marie Antoinette
- Oh wait, that's a different person, from a Lou Reed song. I have always loved Marie and the recent film cemented my affection for the poor girl. Enjoy the beginnings of this page/lens and feel free to go on about her, history, Marat, exec...
- my squid and squidlike tattoos
- my second squid-like tattoo. I have two, probably won't get any more squid tatts for a while, but I will go into the history of my two squidtatts here and other ideas for ink I have.
- ian curtis, joy division, and control
- Personal thoughts on Ian Curtis, the lead singer for Joy Division, who committed suicide in 1980, and the film Control, about him and the band, which I should be seeing soon. It came out this week in the bay area.
- Exteria Code-Free Integration Platform
- Many of you have been exposed or are working with tools for systems integration, SOA, automation, etc. Much of these tools are built around Eclipse or other coding environments. Exteria is a solution that is used by over 250 companies to...
