My title is Chief Imaginative Officer (CIO) of my own firm, emerson consulting group inc., in Concord Massachusetts, a consultancy that transforms individuals and their companies into "thoughtleaders." I recently published "The Expert's Edge: Become the Go-To Authority that People Turn to Every Time" (McGraw Hill 2008) and have written and published four previous books as well as hundreds of published articles.

I am a veteran public speaker on such topics as thoughtleading, getting published, creativity and balancing work and family. Currently on the Board of Directors at IMC USA, I served as President of IMC New England from 2000 to 2005, and helped found the National Writers Union. I also lead success seminars at Harvard University and am a former columnist for the American Management Association.
