The Lone Star Cut is Here!
What on Earth is this you ask? This is the official gemstone cut of the Great State of Texas! You know, like the state flower, state bird, state song . . . Texas has its own, Texas Legislature approved, official gemstone cut. This is the real deal - not a star cut - not a Texas cut - but the Real, Genuine, Lone Star Cut, crafted right here in the great state of Texas by someone who is not only a master gem cutter, but is, in fact, one of the designers of the official Lone Star Cut.The Lone Star Cut gemstone is fully faceted on the top and the bottom of the gem. For the Lone Star to come out looking like a Lone Star, the star facets have to be cut at a critical angle that allows the facets to be a "corner reflector", meaning that light hitting these facets is reflected back out to the source. To the viewer, these facets would be brighter. Other facets are cut at angles which allow the light to escape the stone. This accounts for the star's startlingly bright reflection The tolerances have to be very tight, so that all of the facets meet at each of the points, and all are at the critical angle necessary for the star facets to reflect maximum light back to the viewer. Anything less would be a "wonky star", or a game of "Find The Star", and not worthy of the great and proud state of Texas!
