I was born in September 1960 in Liverpool some 20km south west of Sydney to Italian parents who migrated from Reggio Calabria to Australia in the late1950's. My maternal grandfather along with his 2 nephews had migrated to Australia some years earlier to establish a home for his family's arrival.
I attended an All Girls Catholic School and at a young age of 8 began taking music lessons.
I was passionate about music as a young girl - classical in particular, and undertook examinations with the Australian Music Examinations Board in NSW during the course of my musical education and in 1978 I began teaching the piano and have continued since.
I married at the very young age of 16 years and divorced some 17 years later at age 34. During my married years I continued to teach music from my home studio as well as being a homemaker and mother to my 3 children. After an unexpected marriage breakdown and unpleasant divorce, I began furthering my education via Distance.
In the year 2000, I was offered to opportunity to teach music to a small exclusive distance education learning centre for children of secondary ages. In this Learning Centre I established and directing the School's Band and School's Choir and this continued for approximately 6 years. During this time I continued to further my education became a Vocational Education and Training Assessor as well as certification in Business and Front Line Management via an Education and Training Company of the University of New England in Armidale- Far North NSW.
I have recently completed a 2 year Tertiary Education Course that has enabled me to work as a Learning Support Officer. This allowed me develop skills to work with children with special needs and disabilities in primary and secondary schools.
I currently continue to work part-time as a Learning Support Officer and continue as an instrumental teacher as well.
I have since remarried and now live with my husband in the semi- rural town of Narellan some 40km south west of Sydney which is within a kilometre from my farm.
On the farm my family grow pesticide free organic fruit and vegetables. We have some livestock that are antibiotic, hormone free and roam freely on the farm. I have an older and younger sister both of whom live on the farm next door together with their families.
During what was an arduous and formidable transformation in my life (my marital breakdown and subsequent divorce), I began writing as a form of self therapy. A year after my separation, finding the burdensome changes more than I could withstand, I attempted suicide as a way to end my anguish. I fortunately did not succeed and during a lengthy recovery period in hospital, I began writing from my hospital bed with the intention to see my book come to fruition. It was this simple task of writing that contributed to my healing, self-empowerment and metamorphosis.
I have been a guest speaker on regional and national TV including radio as well as a motivational speaker for women's conventions in the greater Sydney area.
I am passionate about life now and everything that it brings - good or bad (if one chooses to term it in this way). I am zealous about raising awareness within my own family and circle of friends and work colleagues about eliminating our homes of toxic chemicals that we use day to day both in and around our homes and on our bodies (such as personal hygiene products).
I love to cook Italian gourmet foods and find delight in socialising with my very big Italian family (particularly the younger generations for their wonderful open mindedness). I am an avid reader, preferring this to television at any time.
Authors that have inspired me are: Dr W Dyer, Eckhart Tolle, Stuart Wilde, Carlos Castaneda, Deepak Chopra, Louise Hay, Catherine Ponder, Dr John Gray and Florence Shovel-Shinn.
I am particularly interested in any books that are motivational, inspirational, self help, psychology, alternative therapies and nutrition.
I love gardening and exercising when I find the time!
