I am a native North Carolinian. I grew in and around Winston-Salem and Mount Airy, NC.
I went off to high school in Chattanooga, Tennessee where I attended McCallie School.
My college years were spent in Cambridge, Mass. where I earned an honors degree from Harvard.
After college, I bought my first piece of property for $6,000. It was a farm with a house and barn and 140 acres on the shores of Nova Scotia.
After completely remodeling the 200 year old home which had hand hewn beams, I married my wife Glenda, a graduate of UNC- G and a Mount Airy native.
We eventually moved to north of Fredericton, NB in the maritime snow belt.
We developed a very successful purebred Angus bull operation.
When we dispersed our herd, we had two hundred head of cattle.
In 1982 my mother, grateful that I had retired from farming, bought me an Apple II+ computer to help in writing newsletter for my new job as a field marketing specialist for the Angus Association.
Within weeks I had been hired by the people where I bought the computer.
Within a year, I had taken them from one salesperson and one location to 23 sales people and five locations.
In 1984 I eventually joined Apple Computer where I worked in a variety of positions with my last role being that of Director of Federal Sales.
I left Apple in the summer of 2004 and after working with some small technology firms in the Roanoke, Va area where we had been living for 19 years, I decided we needed a change of scenery.
We eventually found the Cape Carteret area and have been living here since September 2006.
