OFFCenter Community Arts Project was founded in 2002 by art therapist Janis Timm-Bottos and a small but visionary group of healthcare practitioners, community activists, and advocates for the homeless and poor in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Today, Timm-Bottos's vision of a safe and therapeutic place to make art -- and thereby make choices, relieve stress, and find one's self -- is carried on by several of the founding Board members and the generous energy, financial support and hard work and care of many local community members.
