Welcome! I'm Stephanie S. Sawyer, a piano teacher, an author, an advocate for those with seizures, and a true Texan by every count. I really like to brag on this last fact.
I usually write in the inspirational mode by way of sharing the victories from real issues in my own life. God always wins the battle and wins me over. There is always a testimony to share. I am true to the gut, unafraid to put the cards on the table on my battles. That's what keeps my readers coming back. They pick up on the victory from having known the full story.
As for advocating,my gumption often gets the better side of me and I will get take a stand about certain deep felt issues. Ever since my corrective brain operation for the cessation of seizures, I have not been shy. Hey! - What's to worry about after having part of one's brain removed!?
I have two books published, both inspirations, and both true victories. The first is my story about breaking out of shame and epilepsy. It is more than the journey of brain surgery. It is the journey out of codepency. Hence the title: "Facing Me". The second, "IMPRINTS: Stories That Solicit a Response" is a series of vignettes to challenge the regular public myth and stigma that is usually placed on various hardship circumstances regarding people and their walk in life. I hope it will challenge the eyes of many, and so I have been already told.
My story has made it around the globe, and I have been recognized nationally for my work in health education regarding seizures. Now, I advocate when possible for a higher understanding regarding epilepsy. There is still much to be done in breaking stigma.
In a nutshell, I believe in overcoming major obstacles. I also love to challenge others for the sake of growth, as my second book does. There are many stigmas alive and kicking in everyday lives. I have seen many hardships, have overcome great obstacles, and now I write about the victories. I seek to encourage others for the journey. I can guarantee that you will be inspired by reading my story.

I never dreamt when I went through a major brain surgery a few years back that I would be delving into a career as a writer. Yet, I knew that I had a conviction from above and hence, a duty to tell my story. I also knew the Lord wanted me to write a...
