I am a second year OTA student looking forward to graduation in May 2012. I started Level II Fieldwork in January. I have nine weeks with a school system, which I am thrilled about it. (It's supposed to be eight weeks, but since the schools have so many days off here and there, I have an extra week). I love Pediatrics, and I loved the time I had with them previously for Level I fieldwork. After this assignment I am not sure where I'll be going, but I know it has to be a different setting. More than likely it will be a skilled-nursing facility or hospital, but I'll let you know. My preference is, and always has been Peds. It's funny how most of the students in my class are very decided about what practice area they prefer. Our fieldwork coordinator keeps saying how we have to be exposed to different settings, and that most jobs right out of school are with SNFs, but I haven't waned at all about my preference. Even after snotty noses and temper tantrums and high maintenance parents (already!!). No offense to any parent out there, I am a parent myself, but there are your prepared, involved realistic parents, your hypochondriacs (I'm borderline), and your completely unavailable parents. Rest assured, any and all names mentioned in these posts are completely fabricated in the interest of HIPAA. Besides, talking about Jazzy Chick or The Crier or Linebacker sounds more fun than Susan or Wilbert ;)
