a lensography

No tricks. No gimmicks. Just having a little fun creating lenses about things that interest me. Oh, and hopefully they are useful to those of you who read them. I have been creating lenses for about a month now and have already created eight. Wow! It is true what people say: Creating Squidoo lenses can be addicting.

a little about me

Something about me? Okay. I am a 37 mother of 3 wonderful kids. Originally from New Jersey, my family moved to Florida when I was 7 years old. I grew up on the beaches and in the sunshine of West Palm Beach and loved every minute. Yes, even the minutes I did not like that much are fondly remembered and missed. In 2002 I moved to the mountains of Virginia with my family. It is quiet in this rural area and I do not regret moving here. It has been a great experience. But, one day I plan to return the beaches. My dream is to live in the Keys. It is not about money or status, but about the ocean.

For the past 15 years I have worked in finance as a bookkeeper for various organizations. In November 2008 I lost my job of five plus years and started blogging. In December I found Squidoo. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Super Bowl Sunday 2009

I like to choose a different charity for each of my lenses. A portion of any earnings is contributed to the charity profiled in my lens.

The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.

We at Squidoo passionately believe in creating new ways to support good causes online. By making a donation to March of Dimes from this page, you are sending money directly to that organization, in whatever amount you want. We don't touch it. We don't even see it. The author of this page doesn't either. And if you made it this far, thanks for caring.

Free Educational Resources
This is what I do. I am a full time mom and full time student. I know, you are saying to yourself, not another educational resource page. And that is okay. It is hard trying to sift through the good, the bad, and the can not possibly mention in a G-rated Lens. Am I right?Let us take this slowly. Tod
Best Frugal Living Sites
Living frugally is not just for the cheap at heart or those with very little income. Frugality is a lifestyle for many. And an easily attainable lifestyle at that. Oh, this does not mean you will be eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, unless, of course, you want to eat peanut butter and jelly

AnneOnParenting: Parent of Teenagers

I know most would say parenting is a challenge and parenting teenagers is a series of small battles. Try being the parent of three teenagers, two of whom are girls! It really is not a bad gig. I am not sure what I did in a past life, but it must have been something good. These kids are not perfect. And I am glad they are mine.

How Many Musical Instruments Do You Play?
I love music. What could be better than the sweet melody that comes from a flute hitting just the right notes? Or the tune of the clarinet playing Bach? I even have come to appreciate the oboe and its unique and endearing sound. My daughters are the musicians in my house. I took some piano as a teena
Jeep Wrangler & More
Not my first vehicle, but definitely my last. Well, my current Jeep may not be the last. But a Jeep is the last type of vehicle I want to own. I never thought making payments on a vehicle was worth the effort. No more. I LOVE my Jeep. That's my yellow Jeep on the right. Isn't it great?
Great Songs of the 80's
Yes, I admit it, I am a child of the 80's. By this I mean, of course, that I grew up in the 80's, went to school in the 80's, and my most significant memories take place in, you guessed it, the 80's.The hair bands, when boys were boys but looked more like girls. The funky hair bands, yes I am thinki

my lens creation process

I write about things I know, like, want to know, or just tickle my fancy. Read on.

My first lens is a spinoff of my first blog: AnneOnCollege: Reference Information. In this lens I chose to write about some free educational opportunities available online. There really are some great sites offering some good free courses online. One site actually offers free college courses. What could be better?

Next, I branched out into a musical instrument lens. I have two daughters in band and thought it would be great to do a lens on different musical instruments. Right now it is slow going, but it could pick up popularity one day. I enjoyed creating it, regardless of its page views.

Then I moved on to my love of Jeeps. I bought my Jeep Wrangler in April 2008 and do not regret it for one minute!

Let's not forget the Living Frugally lens I created. Originally titled Best Freebie Sites, I recently updated this lens and renames it accordingly. This was fun as I have found some wonderful sites online that I wanted to share. Check this lens out. I have gotten $4 off Pace salsa, $3 off Ben & Jerry's, $15 off Kraft foods, and some great advice on how to save at the grocery store.

Lastly, there are my Twitter lenses. I have four of these:

Twitter 101
Twitter Download Applications
Twitter Mobile Applicaions
Twitter Web Applications

I found Twitter around the same time I found Squidoo and love it just as much.
