Lensography of My Faith based Lenses: A Faith Walk

Ranked #3,985 in Culture & Society, #86,789 overall | Donates to New Identity Magazine

Why I'm making this lensography of my faith based lenses?

I'm making this lensography of my faith based lenses because first of all I am a born again Christian (or believer in Jesus Christ) and feel the need to share my faith in any way possible, but secondly, because I know there are others of like precious faith in the Squidoo community who would probably like to know where to find other lenses relating to the Christian faith, and thirdly because I believe that faith should play a predominant part in all of our lives, first for salvation and second for our daily living. These are not Bible-study lenses per-SE, although some might contain snatches of Bible study on a particular passage. These are all lenses relating to faith and the exercise of it in one way or another.
It's actually more of a lensography of the Christian life.

My religious or spiritual background

The basis for my faith

My faith

I was raised in a Christian home, but at an early age came to realize I had to trust Jesus for myself and so, after a neighborhood Bible study, I prayed with the teacher to accept Christ. My parents then explained to me that although salvation is a free gift, our lives should be lived in thankfulness and appreciation for it. But in my teenage years, I got away from it and began to doubt my eternal salvation, until one day I came to grips with it and realized I had to make sure, so I went forward in church and prayed for God to save me or make me sure of my salvation and I felt a real sense of His peace, and have never doubted since, but have been living in thankfulness with a living faith. It doesn't mean I'm perfect. I still sin, but when I do, the Holy Spirit convicts me and I confess it and am forgiven (IJohn 1:9)

1. A basis for faith: Apologetics

First of all we need to come face to face with the claims of Christianity.
If you are an unbeliever, you may need to be confronted with some basic truths as to why Christianity is credible. If you are a believer, you may need to know these things in order to best defend the faith and deal with questions your unsaved friends may have.

2a.Theological basis for our salvation

a.) The righteousness of God

Secondly, we need an awareness of the righteousness of God and of our own sinfulness and lost condition in the light of it and thus, our great need of salvation and God's great provision for it.
Loading

2b. The theological basis of our salvation

b.) The mercy and grace of God:

Thirdly, we need to realize the true basis of our Salvation, the mercy and grace of God.

3.God's great provision for our Salvation

The sacrificial death of Jesus

However, just the fact of God's mercy and grace alone could not secure our salvation. Thus, next, we need to know about and accept God's provision for our Salvation--that which He provided out of his mercy and grace--which is the death of His only begotten son, Jesus on the cross. Through His death and suffering, He purchased our salvation (He paid the price, so we wouldn't have to.)
The prayers on this lens help to bring home the truth of this and apply his death by faith to our own personal salvation and lives.

4.Salvation by faith

It's not enough just to know about Jesus' suffering and death. We mus actively accept His sacrifice as being for us, on our behalf, and accept Him as our Savior by faith.
Loading

5a.The hope of salvation

a.) Rapture

It's a lot nearer now than it was when it was written about in the Bible. We may not have to die.
Loading

5b. The hope of salvation

b.) OR death:

This lens is listed here to show that by trusting Jesus as our Savior we can be sure of going to heaven to be with Him, either by being taken up in the rapture, or through death (in case we die before the rapture comes). Hopefully this lens also serves to bring that last point home in an even stronger way and minister comfort to those near death or who have experienced the death of a loved one who knew the Lord. That last phrase is important, however.

6.Christian Growth Basics

The following links are only for those who have gone as far as step 4 above. If you have accepted Jesus as your savior by faith, as described in lens 4, then you are eternally saved. One scriptural phrase for it is that you are "born again" (John 3). But just as a newborn baby must grow, so you must grow in your new faith. This lens gives the bare basics needed for growth.

7. Living by faith daily

Even if we are following the basics of Christian growth, we still need to exercise faith in our daily lives.
Loading

8.Further growth by Meditation in faith:

After getting the basics down and learning to walk by faith, we need to learn the principle of Christian meditation (meditating in faith on God's word).
Loading

9. Trials of faith

Even though we have the basics down and are meditating on God's word daily doesn't mean we be immune from trials. In fact, almost the opposite is true. Many times God will try our faith.

10.What about the Holy Spirit?

3 powerful lenses:

At some point, we will come to realize we can't do it on our own. We need the blessed 3rd person of the trinity. And yet there is so much confusion in Christian circles today over this issue. What is resurrection power? What is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit?

11.Showing forth God's Agape love

Then (once we allow the Holy Spirit to take His rightful place in our lives), we will be able by faith to show forth God's divine agape love.

12. Conclusion: Successful living

Successful living is living by faith in God's word--following by faith His principles of success as set down in His word (See Joshua 1:8). You will find some of those already mentioned plus a few more here:
