You've created the world's most informative lens on Squidoo but your work is not having the powerful effect on people that you'd hoped it would. You need to tweak your lens so it will move people to act. This lens will show you how.

Introduce Your Lens, Not your Subject

  • Use the introduction module to explain what your lens will do, and how it will solve your reader's problem. Don't make the mistake of using that space to give details about your subject right away.

For instance, on a lens about President Bush, use the intro to explain that your lens features his photos, quotes, and speaking schedule. Later on in the intro, or in another module altogether should you explain who actually Bush is.

Letting your reader know what your lens is useful for is the first step in avoiding brain freeze from information overload.

Use Calls To Action

  • Use calls to action in your modules to give your readers direction on how to use the following information. The module subtitles are perfect for this.

Again, if your lens is about Bush and you have a link list module of political blogs that follow his career, then a call to action subtitle may read: "Subscribe to these blogs". This gentle nudge is all most readers will need to decide to do something with your lens.

Include a Conclusion

Use the most underused part of your lens- the bottom

  • If a reader makes it to the bottom of your lens, it proves they are interested in what you have written. What they need now is direction - they need to know what to do next with all the info you've given them.

Should they buy the product, share the page with someone else, or even hire you? Make their decision easier by giving them options.
