Leona Lewis
Leona Lewis' powerful voice is unique and spellbinding. Her mentor is Simon Cowell from American Idol fame, and currently one of the most influential powers in the entertainment industry.
Leona's debut Album was 'Spirit' which was released in the UK in November 2007 and the rest of the World in March 2008. Her single, 'Bleeding Love' was released in the USA in mid-January 2008. Bleeding Love, was the biggest single in 2007 in the UK. The You Tube Video of Bleeding Love was one of the most viewed video of all time on YouTube. On its first day of sales in the UK, "Bleeding Love" sold over 66,000 copies.
In addition to Bleeding Love, another popular song was 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face'. 'The First Time', was written in 1957 by Ewan MacColl and popularized by Roberta Flack. It is EXTREMELY difficult for a singer to perform a cover version of a song that is as memorable as the popular version. I have rarely seen it happen. And while I will always love Roberta Flack's verion, in my opinon, Leona's version is much more powerful. For the moment, these are the only two YouTube clips I will post below.
If I could buy stock in Leona Lewis, I would. She is certainly destined for great things ahead and I am looking forward to hearing and seeing more from this special singer.
