Incubate Leopard Geckos Egg - The Right Incubator
Are your leos hatching like crazy and your breeding lots of leos? Or are you just hatching your first eggs?

So you want to learn more about Gecko egg raising. But consider this first. If you are breeding lots of leopard geckos and your leos are hatching like crazy, then you definitely need an incubator to insure that all your eggs hatch. But if you are hatching your first eggs from your single pet leopard gecko then you really don't need an incubator like the ones sold commercially. You can make your own incubator (although you can always buy one if you have money to spare). Here's what you need to do. Get a small plastic container about 4 square inch and atleast 5 inches deep (depending on the number of eggs you are hatching) where you can place your leopard gecko eggs and the incubation medium. You can find containers like those made from rubbermaid that's 4 inches wide and about 7 inches long. This is already big enough to hatch 20 eggs. The next thing you need is a thermometer pad to monitor and maintain the right temperature.
Now you need the right incubation medium, right humidity and correct temperature to successfully hatch your precious leopard gecko eggs. You can also purchase a Hovabator is your leopard gecko egg incubation if you have money to spare for your egg hatching process. The hovabator is great for hatching male leopard geckos. If you want female leopard geckos, you can just place the plastic container in a room with temperatures between 79 - 82 degrees - perfect for a female leopard gecko.
Leopard Gecko Egg Incubation - Thermal Air Flow Hova-Bator
Perfect if you want a male leopard gecko...
GQF Hova-Bator Thermal Air Flow Egg Incubator
Amazon Price: $59.99 (as of 06/02/2012)![]()
I find this particular incubator for leopard gecko eggs very effective. This Hova-Bator incubator is simply perfect for producing male leopard geckos. I just calibrate the temperature to 87 - 88 degrees. Just make sure to have a good thermometer to constantly monitor the temperature changes. And never let the temperature pass 95 degress. With temperatures that high, it will instantly kill your eggs. Always calibrate before putting your eggs inside the incubator

Leopard Gecko Egg Incubation - Proper Mixture Of Incubation Medium

Here's a sort of review of incubator medium for geckos egg. When using a plastic container for your leopard gecko egg incubation, having the right amount and mixture of incubation medium is the most critical part in your leopard gecko egg hatching process.
I have found that the best incubation material leopard gecko eggs is the vermiculite. Vermiculite is a good medium because of its nature to absorb high water content. I use it all the time when hatching my leopard gecko eggs. To achieve the correct humidity that is suitable for your egg incubation process, a ratio of 1 part vermiculite and 0.8 part water is needed. Like I said earlier, this mixture is essential and has to be accurate to achieve perfect humidity. It is most advised to use a digital weighing scale for this mixture process. When adding the water, use a plant mister and slowly spray from top to bottom while your container is place on a digital weight scale and until the exact ratio is attained. If you do this correctly, you will never have to worry on how humid should your leopard gecko incubator be so do this carefully and patiently

Leopard Gecko Egg Incubation - Correct Temp And Humidity Of Gecko Eggs
Having the perfect temp and humidity is vital for successful hatching of your gecko eggs. With the right mixture of water and vermiculite/perlite, your humidity should be around 60% and when it is, you are now ready to put your eggs on your new leopard gecko egg incubation container. Carefully dig small holes where you can place your leopard gecko eggs. When in place, carefully secure it by adding little bits of vermiculite/perlite around the egg and leaving apart of the egg to breath. And oh, make sure to mark/sign the eggs a date when it was first laid so you will know its expected date to hatch. Also make a dot mark on top of each egg so that you will know how to reposition it in case the egg is dislodged and at the same time protect the developing embryo so you won't worry and wonder how to tell top from bottom of gecko eggs.Once the egg has been secured, you can now cover the container. Putting the leopard gecko egg incubation container in a room with temperatures between 79 - 82 degrees should yield female leopard geckos while 87 - 88 degrees should result to male leopard geckos and is best achieved using a Hova-Bator. Use your thermometer to monitor the temperature. Open the container ones every week for your eggs to breath and for air exchange to maintain the right humidity in in leopard gecko egg incubation container.
If you want both male and female when your leopard gecko eggs hatch, calibrate the temperature using your thermometer to temperatures between 84 - 86. This should result in a mixture of sexes.

- It's cool that you can incubate your gecko's eggs. I have day geckos, they lay in bamboo tubes and it's so hard to get the eggs out, I just let them incubate inside. First think I know about it is when I see little geckos hiding from cannibalistic dadday and mommy.
