Let Me Tell You About My Boy

A boy is a handy thing for a dog to have

A year ago I was pretty miserable.

I don't even understand what happened to me. One day I was a happy, loved dog and then my life took a turn for the worse. I was abused and neglected and finally abandoned.

Fortunately for me, the good people at the Kentucky Lab Rescue organization took me in and took care of me. I didn't feel so good when I first arrived. I had Kennel Cough and Heartworm. The Rescue vet treated my Kennel Cough but they didn't find the Heartworm until later.

Then a family came...

...and took me home.

I was nervous at first. After all the last couple car rides I had taken didn't turn out that well for me.

But this family took me home and they played with me. I had a warm, comfortable place to sleep that is all my own and every morning, right after they let me out to take care of business, they feed me.

I get at least two walks every day and sometimes more. I get fed twice a day and there are treats!

Best of all I get petted a lot and they give me things I can chew and other things I can fetch.

Most days someone (usually the woman) stays home with me all day and some days everyone is home with me. This means I can have my ears rubbed or my belly scratched whenever I want -- well mostly.

There have been a few rough patches. They took me to the vet and he found my Heartworm. I don't even want to talk about what happened next. Make sure your people always give you your Heartworm medicine because you do not want to go through that! Then after I was finally feeling better they took me back to the vet and did something else that I just can't talk about but I feel OK now. At least the people at the vet are nice and now that I"m feeling better I can run again. For a while there they wouldn't let me do that and all my walks were on a leash.

All of this is great, but the very best thing about living with my family is that in addition to my bed, my food, my toys, and my walks -- they gave me my very own boy.

In a perfect world

Every dog has it's day!

I bought a dog for my on when he was seven but Minnie has only ever had just me but she loves it when my grandsons turn up.

How about both, a boy and a girl?! :)

Dog must have a feeling of belonging! Children have so much energy to share. Boys or girls

Girls are better for dogs

awakeningwellness says:

Every dog should have someone to love them but being a girl I am voting for girls. :)

Margo_Arrowsmith says:

At least some should have girls! or women!

Margo_Arrowsmith says:

Well, at least some girls should have canines!

Every dog should have his own boy

Here's why

  1. Boys are messy. When he feeds me he always spills a little so I get more to eat. Plus, when he fills the small container of food that goes in the house he spills food in the garage. More food again. I always check around the big container every time we are in the garage. Just in case. You never know. Plus, when he feeds himself he sometimes drops food and he doesn't always pay attention when he is carrying food. My family doesn't feed me any people food but hanging out with the boy is almost as good.
  2. Boys are tireless. He will play games with me for hours and hours until I'm ready to take a nap. He doesn't take a nap but he doesn't mind that I want to sometimes.
  3. Boys like to run. When the man or woman take me for a walk that is what we do. Walk. They sometimes let me run but they never do. The boy will run with me.
  4. Boys smell. The boy goes away a lot of days and always comes home with interesting smells on him.
  5. Boys are creative. My boy comes up with new games for us to play all the time. They usually involve a toy and lots of chasing so that's always good.

I really like my crate. I can curl up in a corner and feel safe but it is softer than wires or a wall.

When I first came to live with my family they threw lots of things for me but some of the disks they threw cracked and broke when I caught them and some things just seemed to fall apart when I gave them a little working over. But this toy just keeps flying no matter what I do to it. The boy is getting better with his throwing with all that practice.

Sometimes a dog just needs to chew

I was really lucky that the Kentucky Lab Rescue was there to help me find a new home and to take care of me until I did. Not every animal is so lucky. Your support for organizations like ASPCA can help improve the health and welfare of animals.

The Society was formed to alleviate the injustices animals faced then, and we continue to battle cruelty today. Whether it's saving a pet who has been accidentally poisoned, fighting to pass humane laws, rescuing animals from abuse or sharing resources wi

Labs are such a sweet, loveable breed. Such a shame that so many beautiful labs like Max end up in shelters or worse. So nice that Max has a home with his own boy. Blessed by a SquidAngel.
