As everyone knows, we are fast approaching that day when Santa gathers up his gifts for all the children in the world and gets on his sleigh to deliver them.
Now, even though he is a really busy man (you'll get to read a bit of history about him further down this page) he has very kindly agreed to send special letters to the children of those parents that contact him and request it.
He is also attempting to keep up with the times and as such is prepared to take on the challenges of the telephone and even the mobile, meaning that parents who request it can make sure their child receives a phone call or even a text message from the great man himself.
So without further ado, let's explore the world of Father Christmas, and learn a little more about him.
Season's Greetings!
By the way, if you click on the link to the left of this column (the one that says 'lenses by Allison Whitehead') you can also see some of my other lenses.

A Letter From Santa
Okay, now here's the hotline to the guy in the red suit himself. He's set up a service where you can request that he sends a letter to your son or daughter, and you can let him know all about their pets, their friends and their hobbies too, so he'll know exactly who they are from his big list of children to visit this Christmas!
There's also lots of extra goodies on offer (just click on the banner above to find out more) and you can even request that Santa sends your child a special password to gain access to his secret website...
Yup, even Santa is online nowadays.
A look into how Father Christmas is perceived around the world
Different countries and people think of Santa Claus or Father Christmas in different ways. Beliefs about him have changed down the years as we have taken on different traditions and customs.
Here's a look at some examples.
- The American history of Santa Claus
- This fascinating page tells you how Santa Claus has evolved into the modern day figure we know and love so well.
- British and European history
This page contains a timeline which charts the history of how Father Christmas first came into being.
A spellbinding tale which starts in 270-280 AD...
- A fascinating insight for the kids
I'm including this website as it's by a school not far from where we live in Kent - known locally as 'The Garden of England'.
It's an excellent site, and is packed with lots of information and history - not just about Father Christmas but about every other aspect of Christmas as well.
Show your kids - they'll love it!
Seasonal stuff for the grown ups (because we all need a treat) on CafePress
Ok, not exactly the spirit of Christmas, but seeing as Santa doesn't bring presents for the adults I'm sure he wouldn't mind us improvising and giving ourselves a little gift instead.

He might be busy but he's still got time to give your child a call...
You have to admire Father Christmas. He's busier than the mail service at this time of year, but he's still got plenty of time to call your child if you let him know where they are.
His website is managed by a top team of highly trained elves, who will give you all the details of how to get a pre-recorded - or LIVE! - call from Santa Claus himself.
Ho ho ho!
A man by many names...
- Name variations
Santa Claus and Father Christmas are the two name variations we know and love today, but there is a whole history of others as well.
