I'm a big fan of big screens. I like to watch movies in the evening, both on working days and on weekend evenings when I'm spending a night on the couch with my lovely girlfriend. If only my budget were as big as my love for big screens. But alas, it is not. That's why I wanted to find a big screen at a relatively modest price. I have paid around $500 for it by ordering it from Amazon. This price is already much lower than the lowest price that I could find at local retailers near my location. I've visited three or four consumer electronics retailers and the lowest price for this television was $750. One guy even had the guts to offer this television for no less than $900. And that was with a discount. Now why would I buy the LG 42LD450 1080p LCD HDTV for a price that comes close to a grand, when I can purchase it for almost half online?

I sold my old television for $100 and saved up for 2 months so that I could buy this one. It arrived quickly and I instantly went to work on assembling it. It takes a little work to assemble the LG 42LD450, but once the hassle is over with and it's in place... it's in place. With televisions that come at this price, you usually have a great screen but all the other features, such as the quality of the stand are not so great. The same is true for this television. But like I said... I'm on a budget and I just want bang for my buck. Just like most other people do (or so I assume).

If your entire life revolves around television (and I certainly hope for your sake that it doesn't), then you might want to spend $1000 or even $1500 on an even more impressive model. But for the lion's share of consumers, I think the LG 42LD450 42-Inch 60 Hz LCD HDTV is going to be satisfactory. So let's get into all the good stuff about this awesome HDTV!

What's So Good About The LG 42LD450 LCD HDTV?

Let me begin by stating that a 42 inch screen is really big. I really can't imagine that a much bigger screen area would make me much happier. The quality of the screen is also really good. The colors and the contrast are also pretty much in order. The design of the LG 42LD450 is also pretty sleek.

Some people might say that a refresh rate of 60 Hz is not all that. But in all honesty, I think the screen is really soft on the eyes. This television really does not wear me out, not even after 3 or 4 hours of non stop viewing.

Then there is the viewing angle. I've heard some people complain about the viewing angle of this LG 42LD450 LCD HDTV, so I tested it. After having installed the television, one of the first things I did was take a walk around the room to view it from a couple of angles. No matter where I stand, I don't see the picture changing at all!

What I also love about the LG 42LD450 42-Inch LCD HDTV, is that there are no glares at all. With my old television, I always hated it when I was watching a movie during the day and the sun's beams would fall on it after an hour or so. Then I'd have to get up and close the curtains and then my girlfriend would start complaining about that because she was reading a book and needed more light. That problem has pretty much been solved by this television.

Many of the newer television models are so flat that the designers are apparently unable to cram a decent set of speakers in there. This often requires you to purchase an addition set of speakers just so you can have decent sound. However, with the LG 42LD450, the sound is fine right out of the box. It doesn't sound like it's coming out of a tin can at all. This is not telephone-conversion quality we are talking about here. The sound from this LG LCD HDTV is good enough all by itself.

This weekend, me and my girlfriend are locking ourselves up in the house to watch a good movie. Cell phones and chat clients on the home computer are being turned off. We're going to enjoy this awesome television to the fullest without any interruptions.

I honestly can't believe that I am alive to see this day. To be able to get such an immensely large television for this little money, kind of makes me feel like I hit the jack pot!
