  • QMovieBlog.com
A terrific blog (with a bi-weekly e-newsletter) for LGBT movie news and gossip plus up to date listings of new queer interest theatrical and home video releases, fun contests, celebrity favorite movies, and much more.
  • PQProfessionals List
The PopcornQ Film & Video Professionals List is an extremely useful, low-traffic moderated list serv for gay, lesbian, bi, and transgender film and video professionals (makers, distributors, exhibitors and festival programmers, journalists, etc.).
  • WolfeQueerFestDirectory
This delightfully simple list of LGBT Film Festivals is organized by festival dates (handy for filmmakers doing festival submissions) and includes links to more than 100 queer film festivals around the world.
  • Out In Film & Television
National (free) membership organization dedicated to LGBT professionals working in film and television. OTF hosts networking events in New York and Los Angeles as well as publishing a very informative bi-weekly e-newsletter that is a MUST HAVE for your In-Box. Sign up now.
  • GLBT POC Video and Film Professionals Yahoo Group
This list is for People of Color in the Queer community who are or would like to be in the video, film and new media industries. Open discussions on issues involving queers in the industry as well as postings for crews and equipment, screenings and other events that pertain to the industry.
  • LGBT Film Funding Sources
This not completely up-to-date directory includes many LGBT specific funders as well as foundations and organizations that do general film and video funding. Also be sure to check The LGBT Funders List from The Working Group on LGBT Issues and this useful list of Niche Funders.
  • PopcornQ International Directory of Lesbian & Gay Film and Video Festivals
This massive database offers contact information for more than 100 lesbian and gay film festivals, unfortunately it has not been updated in many years.
  • POWER UP
Professional networking group based in Los Angeles for women in film, TV and media. POWER UP funds, produces and distributes films as well as hosting events and publishing a quarterly magazine.
  • Outfest & Frameline
In addition to running the largest LGBT Film Festivals in the world (Outfest in L.A., Frameline in S.F.) these two organizations impact the LGBT media landscape nationally and internationally with their other programs. Frameline Distribution focuses on North American LGBT film and video distribution to the educational market as well as festivals, broadcast and home DVD. The Frameline Completion Fund offers funding to LGBT projects (annual deadline in October). Outfest is also responsible for The Legacy Project (a partnership with UCLA focused on LGBT Film Preservation) in addition to offering an annual Screenwriting Lab and other professional development opportunities throughout the year. Become a member or just explore their websites to see all the amazing work they do.
  • GLAAD's Queer Lounge at Sundance This national watchdog organization focuses on LGBT representation in the media and also presents the annual Queer Lounge during the Sundance Film Festival. Check out the GLAAD website for the Cinequeer section which tracks new and upcoming LGBT films.
  • There are hundreds of Yahoo Groups (and Google Groups, etc.) devoted to all aspects of filmmaking. To get a sense of what is available, check out the Yahoo Filmmaking Groups directory.
  • A few other non-gay (and highly recommended) independent filmmaker resources: Independent Feature Project, indieWIRE, Filmmaker Magazine.
  • One last thing for now (but keep checking back -- this list will continue to grow). We were thrilled to hear of the recent re-emergence of The Independent, now available online. This was the publication of the Association of Independent Film & Video Makers for 30 years (which sadly went under in 2006). This site is packed with valuable information and resources. There is so much to discover here we can't even begin to describe it. You must see for yourself!
  • The LGBT Film & Video Professionals Resource List is brought to you by the friendly folks at WolfeVideo.com -- your queer-owned source for LGBT DVDs.
