Casting for the Hunger Games is in full swing, with many of Hollywood's hottest young faces vying for the opportunity to join the cast. That said, the competition has been remains very intense. So how did Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth nab the role of Gale? Well, according to his big brother and fellow actor Chris Hemsworth, it might have been his scene study partner. Chris told MTV that in preparation for his audition, Liam actually ran lines with him, and yes, Chris took on the role of Katniss. Yes, that's correct, the man who is responsible for playing the buffed out super-hero role of Thor, read lines as a 16 year old girl all in an effort to help his brother out. In Chris' words, he put his best "girly, American accent on." And it clearly paid off because Liam ultimately ended up getting the job -- brotherly love at its best. The Last Song is an upcoming American coming-of-age drama film starring Miley Cyrus and directed by Julie Anne Robinson. Nicholas Sparks was approached to write both the film's screenplay and the novel by the same name. Sparks completed the screenplay in January 2009, prior to the completion of the novel. The film's storyline follows a troubled teenager, played by Cyrus, and her estranged father, played by Greg Kinnear, as they reconnect with each other through music during a summer in a quiet Southern beach town. The film also stars Kelly Preston and Liam Hemsworth. Offspring Entertainment produced the film for Touchstone Pictures, an alternative film label of The Walt Disney Company. The Last Song is Sparks' first screenplay to be brought to film as well as Robinsons feature film directorial debut. The setting, originally North Carolina like the novel, changed to Georgia after states campaigned for months to host production. Upon beginning production in Tybee Island, Georgia and nearby Savannah, The Last Song became the first movie to be shot and set in Tybee Island. Filming lasted from June 15 to August 18, 2009 with much of it occurring on the island's beach and pier. The film's premiere will be held in Los Angeles, California on March 25, 2010.[2] The Last Song was originally scheduled for wide release on January 8, 2010,[3] but has since been postponed to March 31, 2010.[1]
