Magic Kingdom - Liberty Square
Ranked #16,982 in Travel & Places, #396,397 overall
Welcome to LIBERTY SQUARE
Liberty Square is located between Frontierland and Fantasyland. Walking up Main Street USA it is located to the left of the castle.
Liberty Square is much more laid back and relaxing, and has only 3 main attractions. These being Haunted Mansion, Hall of Presidents and the Liberty Belle paddlesteamer.
The theme is Colonial America with brick buildings and a replica of the Liberty Bell. The Liberty Tree is located in front of the Liberty Tree Tavern, unlike some other large trees in Disney this is actually a real tree.
There is a wooden pillory (stocks) between the Liberty Tree Tavern and the Liberty Belle Steamer. This provides a great photo opportunity.
Take time to explore the shops in this area, there are some really special shops that are not featured elsewhere in the parks, although some similar can be found at the Marketplace in Downtown Disney.
The Magic Kingdom Parade goes through Liberty Square and this can be a great place to watch from. If you are eating in the Liberty Tree Tavern you may even be lucky enough to have a window seat as the parade goes by.

Magic Kingdom - The Hall of Presidents
Disney's Presidential Audio-Animatronics show
The Hall of Presidents is located in Liberty Square opposite the Liberty Belle Steamer. It is housed in a magnificent colonial building, but does not attract the number of visitors that the other attractions do.This is definitely one for patriots or history buffs. Children will be bored within a few minutes of the show beginning. It is certainly worth seeing once, but is one of those attractions that once seen, you probably don't need to see it again too often.
The show is a film which explains the creation of the Constitution and the formation of the Presidency. At the end of the film the stage is lit up and 42 American Presidents greet the audience. The Audio-Animatronics used are excellent and very life like.
The theatre seats about 700 people, and it is rare that this is full. It can be worth visiting this attraction just to take a relaxing break in the comfy air conditioned theatre for 25 minutes.
Length of show : Approximately 23 Minutes
My daughters verdict : I've seen that before.

Magic Kingdom Liberty Square Riverboat
Take a relaxing ride around Disney's Tom Sawyer Island
The Liberty Belle is a replica of an old paddle wheel riverboat. You can board the Liberty Belle from Liberty Square opposite the Liberty Tree Tavern.Once on board the riverboat sets off and takes you on a trip around Tom Sawyer Island. This is a relaxing slow ride that takes about 16 Minutes. You can move between the decks during the ride, but the view is pretty much the same from each.
As you travel around the island be sure to look out for the various interesting scenes that have been set out and are only viewable from the riverboat.
Disabled guests in wheelchairs can access this ride, but will not be able to move to other decks of the boat.
Length of ride : about 16 Minutes
My daughters verdict : Can we go to Splash Mountain?

Magic Kingdom - The Haunted Mansion
Ride through the dark with 999 of Disney's happy haunts
The Haunted Mansion is the most popular attraction in Liberty Square. It is located near the entrance to Fantasyland and is housed in a magnificent old mansion house. The haunting starts at the entrance with the carriage drawn by the ghost horse and the queue which passes through a grave yard as you enter the Haunted Mansion. Be sure to read the insprictions on the grave stones as you wait in the line.
Once at the door you are greated by a Bulter or a Maid who escorts you into the library. This is an intriguing room, try to work out if the ceiling is moving up or is the fall going down.
Having passed through the library you enter the loading area where you are loaded into black hooded carriages to take you on your ride through the mansion house.
Sit back and enjoy all the amazing special effects, you won't have time to observe it all. Make sure that none of the ghosts follow you home though.
The ride is pretty tame in terms of scariness but some smaller children may be frightened by some of the darker sections of the ride.
The ride was refurbished during the middle of 2007 and reopened with many popular additions making it even better than before.
The popularity of this ride means that queues are almost always present. This is mainly outside under a canvass cover so can be extremely hot.
Length of Ride : 7 Minutes 30 Seconds
My Daughters verdict : That was brilliant, not as scary as I thought.

A guide book is really worth having before you go. Read up on the areas you plan to visit and go pre-armed. If you wait until you get there, you will waste precious time reading instead of riding. These are all recommended good buys.
