If you are looking for a library job then you are certainly aware that it can be a challenge if not impossible to find a traditional library job.

Here are some alternative library jobs, which allow you to use the same skills you have as a librarian.

1. Consider starting your own home business online. As a librarian you have a lot of computer skills as well as research and marketing skills which make it possible for you to succeed easier and quicker than people who do not have these skills.

2. Work for a book publisher. Book publishers can provide great library jobs. This is an especially good fit if you have an English degree or experience with writing and editing as well as working in a library.

3. Work for a library database provider such as Ebsco, or Proquest. These database creators all hire librarians to work for them, both to work on the databases and to help them sell subscriptions to libraries.

4. Work for a library circulation software creator such as Sirsi Dinux or Polaris. These companies hire librarians as well.

Work for a company that creates and sells other products that libraries use such as wiki software, reference software and other similar products
