Looking for signage ideas for your library?

You've come to the right place! I'm always on the lookout for great ideas for signs to make for my library, whether it's to purvey information or to promote books and reading. I especially like signs that are reasonably easy to do, are extremely budget-friendly, and best of all, attract attention in a positive way.

The images on this webpage are gleaned from Flickr.com, where many library and school staff have shared their wealth and wisdom in making signage for those who, like me, always can use a helping hand.

Yay -- that's so great! I'll keep an eye out for them! :)

Both. We have an in-house PR department that does about half of our signage. But for monthly displays and things only needed for a few hours or programs, we make our own without PR.

Nice variety of signs. I recommend those plastic stands to put the signs in so they stand up on a desk or table and keep clean.

Generally a great idea to protect your signage, but in the case of my library I cannot, as the glare from the plastic is horrible with our bad overhead lighting. It's difficult to find "non-glare" holders and self-adhesive plastic to cover signs with.

Books Worth Looking At ...

Even in my little junior high school library I feel the need to "step-it-up" and market the library, both to our students and to our administrative staff who control my budget. These are books I've got on order, upon recommendation of staff in other libraries. Maybe they'll be helpful to you too.
